That Weiss sounds nice, butI've never been impressed with Green Flash. All of the stuff I've tried by them tastes way too boozy. In San Diego, I much prefer Alesmith. Ever checked them out?

I had a Mango Guppy by Pipeworks over the weekend...It was alright. On the light side for a session IPA. Nothing to write home about. I also had their Blood of the Unicorn, which was a red (not a huge fan of red ales), and really enjoyed the Sex & Candy by 18th Street Brewery.

Brickstone Brewery Galaxy Down Under

It's part of their single hop series. I really like these Galaxy hops.

Then you probably won't like this one either - it definitely tasted champagne-y, like a shandy.

We didn't get to Alesmith this time, but I'd like to try a small quantity of their Speedway Stout.

We were also pleasantly surprised by Bolt in Little India near our hotel. My cousin had a flight, and I had an orange ale. Their food was good too. We skipped Ballast Point and Stone in favor of places whose stuff is not available in Chicago, although I had a Ballast Point Kolsch at the ballpark (kinda meh, probably because I had to pay $10 for a can).

I love mine. Ace hardware, at least the two nearest me, do co2 cylinder exchanges.
If you cant get them there you may have to get an account at airgas.

They all end up being awesome. I don't know if throwing shit at the wall is the appropriate term.

Who would have thought that coconut would have a been a good inclusion, but the 2013 Prop was one of the best that they made.

2013 Prop featured an entirely reasonable single adjunct and was one of the best beers released in the series. 2015 and 2016 were incoherent messes and 2017 looks likely to continue that trend with BANANAS.

Legitimate debate? You like it or you don't. It seems like you have an ax to grind with them.

Ratebeer.com gave it a 98.
Beeradvocate.com gave it an 87.
Untappd rankings give it a 4.18 out of 5.

Goose Island literally gave refunds for 2015 Prop. It seems more like you are kneejerk defensive of them than anything else.

The one I drank wasn't infected.

Why would I be defensive of them? Other than the BCBS, and a few other special releases, I have no use for any of their beers.

Last year I found the standard BCS to be the best.

Goose Island needs to KISS. Quickly turning into Ballast Point with all the silliness.

I've never been a fan of their barleywine variant. Too sweet.

Never been a fan of barleywine in general. However, went to Revolution in Logan this Saturday and the best beer I had ended up being a barleywine.

A resurgent Burlington Beer Company has been generating quite a buzz lately, particularly for this DIPA:

Image

If you ever run across It's Complicated Being A Wizard, definitely check it out. It's yet another example of the terrific juicy, hazy IPAs being churned out all over New England these days. The quality of beer available in Vermont right now is crazy. New breweries seem to pop up every week, and just about all of them are no worse than very good--and a bunch of them have at least one outstanding signature IPA or APA.

Bought the Watermelon Dorado by Ballast Point tonight. Really was looking forward to trying it but pretty disappointed by the end product. At 10% it's a substantial brew but it is quite bitter. It is interesting because after the bitter bite the watermelon comes through which is kind of cool for the first half of the beer but the bitterness takes over and you barely taste the watermelon later on. I also picked up a sixer of Local Hero. I enjoyed Anti Hero very much but think Boyd said Local was better so I am bringing that to a party to share tomorrow. Also picked up a sixer of Velveteen Habit IPA by Ale Asylum out of Madison, WI. I've had it before and it was pretty good last time.

Went to Lagunitas Brewery this past weekend. Didn't have enough time for the tour; visited the tap room only. The walk to the tap room is fun. You walk through a long hallway with windows into the brewing floor and Willy Wonka music playing:

Image

Did a flight of 4 beers and then ended up getting a separate glass of Born Again Yesterday. That is some really tasty stuff.

Will have to return to do the tour.

I would normally say that once you've been on one brewery tour you've been on all brewery tours, but the sheer size of this place probably makes it worth checking out.

Yea, before going we didn't plan to spare an hour for the tour because we figured what would be so different. But holy shit is that place massive so it'd be cool to see brewing at that scale.

We did a tour at Begyle a month or so ago for $10. The tour guides had no idea about brewing but they gave you 3 full pours during the "tour" so it was a good time.

Tonight's the first night I've had Single BarrelKnob Creek in a long time.

This shit is poison. Never introduce it to your kids. Never pour more than a finger. I've had two drinks and my wife is already looking at me like I'm special. This shit is gasoline
