Started working at the Mart. So many places to eat around here. Found a place called UB Dogs on Franklin. Nothing exotic, but they have Merkts cheddar for the fries, which was a plus.

Get over to Siena Tavern. Tell them I sent you.

It will mean nothing to them, but that place is amazing.

Today was one of those peculiar Taco Bell days. Being frugal, I opted for the Crunchwrap combo. Big mistake.

Whilst in the wilds of Norwood and Jefferson Parks, I had a taste for a hot dog. Since I hadn't been to the tourist trap that is Superdawg in 10-12 years I wanted to try it again to see if I was left just as blah as I vaguely remembered, I figured what the hell.

Still not bad, but not worth it either. (And Jimmy's is still far superior)

SuperDawg is awesome. Never had Jimmy's, but not sure how you can compare them since they use different types of dogs.

Also, the fries at SD are fantastic.

Prices at SD, not so fantastic.

True, they definitely are different dogs & SDawg is larger, but the fries @ Jimmy's are better by a notch. But a $3 difference is ludicrous

In reality I couldn't justify making a trip to Gene and Jude's (which I've never had)

Dude...

(Actually, Jimmy's and Gene and Jude's are pretty comparable.)

Tried that new Guardians of the Galaxy Blizzard at DQ. Keep it. Cookie/Brownie bits, chocolate and caramel chunks. It wasn't horrible but
I would never order it again.

Doing some work down in Bloomington this week and hitting up all the old college stomping grounds. Will try the Pub II today for a mid-afternoon lunch if I get time.

You know you're getting old when you're actually happy the co-eds left last week so that it's quieter. Smh at myself.

When did you go to school down there Leash? I hadn't been back to Normal until I went back like 18 months ago passing through town.
It had been over 15 years and there were many changes in the downtown area, all to the good. PubII  That's great. I used to
work at Shanigan's but I believe that place closed down shortly after I graduated in 1999. I worked as short order cook and sometime
bar back. Best job I ever had.

Graduated in '06. It's A LOT different in Normal. These kids are leading lives of luxury.

And I did go to the Pub and get a tenderloin. Delicious.

My ex went to school there. She would always rave about the Pub II. I see she's not the only one. I went down there with her once and couldn't understand what the big deal was. I guess it's an ISU thing.

It is. There's nothing really unique about it except it's probably the best bar in Normal itself (walkable to students - anything in Bloomington is too far). It is an absolute madhouse when school is in session (or at least it was when I was there). They used to have crazy specials, too, like quarter beers or 2 buck pitchers, etc.

They made Playboy's top 100 college bars back in 1998 when I was in school there. I see they have a beer garden now, they didn't even have that
back in the late 90s and the parking lot held maybe a dozen cars. Not sure what made it all that special other than the fact that they stuck around
year after year while other places were closed and renamed into something else. It has stood the test of time. It was just the place to go and be
seen.

I'll never forget being at the Pub with my girlfriend at the time, and she got so wasted she was heckling Boomer Grigsby by calling him "Boom Boom" and making fun of him for being a meathead (she was mouthy as hell). Make no mistake - had he gotten pissed, I would have pretended not to know her.

Bacon Ranch chicken sandwich from Burger King. It was just meh... Had kind of a strange potato/pretzel type bun I didn't care for.

Yeah, that is the truth. I had limited time and they are right across the street from my office. Thought a chicken sandwich would
be better for me than a double Whopper.

Had a Chick-Fil-A salad, and it was delicious. Chick-Fil-A doesn't do anything poorly.

Well, other than tolerance for beliefs other than their backwards bible thumping.

Yes, but the fresh chicken and great service make me look the other way.
