Taste of food is not always related to the look of food.

That explains your pasta salad

Was that unintentional or did you mean to make a really subtle and impressive pun about the now closed Jacks restaurant on Touhy?

Unintentional. I had to Google what you're even referring to. The only Jacks I knew of was the pizza place on NW Highway that closed (burned down?)

And that was a Jake's, so I've doubly fucked up.

Time to go home.

Sounds like we're going to have another in depth review like I did with the Arby's Beef N Cheddar N Chicken N Ham sandwich.

Glorious.

We had a Rammy's in DeKalb. It was the only good sandwich shop around. Too bad it closed.

i meant to post about this yesterday but better late than never.

went to China Chef in Carol Stream yesterday. the food is damn good for casual Chinese. lunch specials are usual price but you get egg drop soup with it. they also have those smoothies with the tapioca in them ($.50 extra).

the spice is nice.

Leftover Chuck's from a wedding we were at that he catered last night. He had 2 smokers and a deep fryer on his trailer. One could hold up to 420 chickens, the other can hold up to 400lbs of pork, brisket, and/or ribs. Needless to say, I was in a meat coma last night. All of that plus some cajun potatoes which almost melted in yur mouth.

There was also some salad in the takeout box I grabbed, but fuck that.

Ok

Gross, but OK.

Make sure you get some fine tap water from New Delhi, too.

I found myself accompanying some folks to an Indian restaurant ... I didn't realize that was the destination til we got there ... a real bummer considering they were literally next door to a BBQ joint like a normal person would go to.

I had no idea what to expect. I had some of their bread (Naan?) and it was alright, and I ordered something chicken that on the menu looked normal enough.

I didn't realize all Indian food is apparently all drenched in goop.

Everything everyone ordered was basically goop.

Chicken? Goop. Lamb? Goop? Goop, goop, goop.

Me no likey da goop.

The flavors weren't bad, but it was like eating in a foreign language and not knowing quite how to translate it.

Not sure why I wrote that. Even less sure why you read it.

Doesn't Tandoori just mean that's the kind of oven they cook it in? It's not a specific recipe like, say, Chicken Marsala or Lemon Pepper Chicken?

It is a specific recipe, though you're not wrong about the tandoor oven.

Tandoori chicken & naan is pretty much it for me @ Indian places, but I've never had any so good that I'd go out of my way for it. I agree with your general sentiment though, most is inedibly goopy and I'll add gritty/sandy.

Butter chicken is usually enjoyed by almost anyone...even those that don't like indian. I'm surprised no one mentioned it.

'Butter chicken' sounds like a setup for a bad Family Guy cutaway.
