Saw them on Check Please. Family wants to try that the next time we are up there. That looks like a cool old neighborhood place.

How is Lou's at the top of this poll? Their thin crust leaves much to be desired.

I protest this poll altogether as no Giordano's or Paleramo's on it.

They're definitely not as good as they used to be, IMO.

Yea I guess. We were all looking forward to it and it pretty much sucked. Kind of like the Chicago Bears of pizza.

Giordano's is decidedly average. Any neighborhood in the city will have better options.

The Giordano's etched in my memory was the original shop on 63rd and California. You could not even eat in if I remember right. Then they moved to 63rd and Kedzie and were still very good. I haven't eaten at other than these two originals.

Vito and Nick’s Pizzeria

Chicago

This pick might be a bit controversial, what with Chicago’s myriad awesome deep-dishes… and “stuffed” pizzas, which are basically the same thing but even more like casseroles. However, well-behaved pizza writers seldom make history. So, after some intense debate, we decided to go with (GASP) a thin-crust joint. Vito and Nick’s crunchy-edged game is incredibly strong, they’ve been doing it since 1932, and their square-cut slices contain hidden treasures that even the deep-dish guys could learn a thing or two from.

Not in any order, but if it were, Home Run Inn would be last. Chain pizzas like Lou, Giro, Uno, etc are no match for a mom and pop place.

Fasano's for sure. If anyone is down that way I suggest giving it a try. Not sure what it is and why I like it so much. Maybe because my friends and I always grabbed it hungover. But always have to grab a pizza if I am down visiting the mother.

Bumping this. Vito and Nicks will be featured on Check Please tonight along with the south side establishments:

Garifuna Flava, Calumet Fisheries, Zalesky & Horvath, Chicago’s Home of Chicken & Waffles, Acadia, Soul Vegetarian East, Han 202, and Tio Luis Tacos.

Unplanned and unexpected...last Thursday we stopped at Peaquod's in Morton Grove. I haven't eaten there in a few years, but that place is still awesome. Not my favorite pizza but very unique and very good.

2 spots in Plainfield / Naperville area that are pretty good for thin crust , Vita Bella and Pieroni's.

Not sure if it's ever been mentioned, but Langel's has a great tasting, crumbly sausage pizza in Highland/NWI.

Salernos in Oak Park, thin crust. Corner of Roosevelt & Maple.

Nancys thin crust.

I'm not a fan of Chicago style pan pizza.

Never been there but I did see they were selling Vito and Nicks frozen pizzas up here at Woodmans so I picked up a sausage.
Been in the freezer for about 3 weeks. Was surprised to see in in the frozen section.

The thin crust was good, but I wouldn't drive the hour again for it. If I were in the area, sure. Glad we went, though.

Unplanned...took the family to Pizano's in Glenview over the weekend. Back when I worked in Glenview, this had become my favorite thin crust pizza. It's been a few years, as I now work in Milwaukee.

Ordered 1 thin and 1 deep dish. The thin is still very good. They have a very unique crust. The deep dish was "meh". it's the thinnest "deep dish" named pizza I've ever had.

Overall, not as good as I remember it and my GF said it was good, but she enjoyed Peaquod's better.

Went to Vito & Nick's. Their thin crust was great.

There's a place in Lisle called Lucano's. They also have 2 other locations. Their thin crust is outstanding. It's like a cracker crust. Highly recommended. Tell 'em I sent you.

I grew up by Vito and Nick's. My parents are big fans of really thin crust pizza and would order it a lot. Personally don't care much for it.
