I remember the old Consumerist site used to call it the 'grocery shrink ray '

most pints of ice cream haven't been a pint for awhile
OJ used to be 64oz now is 48oz

but 2 outrageous ones i've seen recently :
Matt's chocolate chip cookies- the package is literally half the size it used to be
Heinemman's coffee cakes- it's like a personal size now.

Girl Scout cookies. They are 5 bucks a box for 14 cookies.

Girl scout cookies jumped the shark even before Biden's inflation.

It's not about the cookies, it's about the charity.

Yeah it is getting crazy. So many things shrink more and more.

When my daughters were younger we got season passes for several years to Six flags. And they would always give you the refillable drink container. It became a running joke every year to see how much smaller it was than the previous year. I got in a huge argument with one of their people one year as we were renewing our passes. They were wanting us to upgrade to their food package and we were not interested. I told the lady I might consider it if they would stop shrinking the size of the drink containers every year and she got all snotty with me and told me that was not happening. I was like Bullshit it isnt, I have about 5 of them at the house and we can see it.

The bigger problem with Six Flags Great America is they haven't added any new rides in like 5 years.

I think the food package is worth it.

Cereal and chips prices are crazy.

We always took sandwiches and drinks with us and went out to the car and ate. Way cheaper in the long run.

That's the only way to do it. I don't mind paying for a meal, but if you're charging me $9 for a Bar S hotdog and a slice of frozen pizza that is of lesser quality than Jack's, you can just fuck right off.

Seems like a pain in the ass and food without the pass is crazy expensive there 20+ bucks or so a meal. I'd probably spend 20-30 per lunch to feed 2-3 of us, so we thought do that 5 or so times and you break even. A few years ago I think we could get 2 meals and a snack for a hundred or hundred fifty, the drink bottle might have been included. Looks like they cut out the snack and the drink bottle. I remember reading about a guy a few years ago that bought the meal deal and ate there every day. He spent about 150 for 5 months or so of food. Excellent deal for him! Edit: JORR posted the story.

While we are on the subject, what's the best amusement park? Maybe a trip to one this summer would be fun.

Wasn't really a pain in he ass. Buy some bread, lunch meat/cheese and a case of soda. walk to the car and eat. walk back. Pretty simple. There were also 6 of us so it was al ittle different.

The best park IMO is Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio. We have went there several times and we are actually planning a trip there this summer with our whole crew. They have a ton of great rides.

After product sizes are shrunk multiple times without lowering the price the companies then increase the size modestly and have the balls to put "new bigger size" on the package.

It really sucks when you have an old recipe when packages or containers were a certain size and they have shrunk several times and you end up having shit left you will never use.

20 lbs propane tanks now contain 15 lbs if you swap them (unless you go to Menards where it's 17 lbs or refilled to 20). Bags of ice went from 10 lbs to 7.

Swapping tanks should only be done when your tank ages out of certification. Filling them makes a lot more sense.

This has been happening since the eighties. For virtually anything at a grocery store.

A party size bag of chips now is probably about as big as a regular size bag chips was 20 years ago. It’s more like an incel party size bag now.
