Yeah im not sure I know anyone who spends upwards of $220/month on cigarettes. It helps not buying them in Cook County though.

Right and I know like 2 old people who smoke....so....ya know

Honestly Ive always taken the view...Dont try til you're ready, no reason to torture yourself if youre gonna just go back in a week.

I am a confident person, but I have almost 0 confidence in my ability to quit smoking.

Last time I half assed attempted was 2002 and at 6pm I started shaking and had one....didnt care for that shaking.

Yeah I hear ya. I watched both my parents try to quit smoking for years, never could make it. A couple times they would ask me to help them by holding them accountable to their commitment to quit and then they would just lie to me when I would ask them about it.

My mom developed COPD and it eventually killed her, but even in her last couple of days I have no doubt if she could have gotten out of the hospital she would have lit up. She did not think her years of smoking had anything to do with it. She told me several times she would have gotten COPD even if she never started smoking. I guess that was kind of like her defense mechanism against all of it.

But it did give me absolutely no desire to ever smoke. So I guess that is a good thing in all of it.

my best friend's mom had a lung removed and STILL tried smoking...she died last year. she probably eclipsed $220 a month on cigarettes in her heyday...total definition of a chimney.

yeah and not that smoking 8-10 a day is a lot better but my brother in law's father literally lit one off the other. I cant imagine that....

I get drunk and smoke 15 and the next day my throat is killing me....

They weren't quite that ugly but yeah there was anti-smoking posters in my Jr High and High School. I'm not sure it had any effect really.

He says "Walking across the street is as dangerous as smoking. I could die walking across the street".

That's where you put your best JORR face on, give him a crooked look, and tell him he doesn't actually believe that shit.

  That's from Naked Gun!!

Quote:
Frank: I'm telling ya, the answer's up there in Ludwig's office. Call it what you will. A hunch, woman's intuition. That guy Ludwig knows a lot more than he's telling us.
Ed: A hunch won't stand up in court, Frank. Where are your hard facts?
Frank: Look. He's the only one outside of ourselves who knew that Nordberg was still alive. Next thing we know, some thug tries to knock Nordberg off in the hospital.
Ed: That may be, but breaking into Ludwig's office, you're takin' a big chance.
Frank: I know. You take a chance getting up in the morning, crossing the street, or sticking your face in a fan.
