FOOD TOO SMALL

Heres an idea put the Name of the restaurant OUTSIDE THE BUILDING! How are people going to find you ?

Ordered a summer shandy and got a free pork slider. Asked for extra sauce and guy hooked me up. Asking nicely does wonders!

Let's hear a review. I've always been interested but think I'd hate it. The food doesn't appeal to me and it's not what I want out of a restaurant. I've never been sure if staying away is the right decision. The experience sounds cool.

Oh, I don't have that kind of money right now. Maybe if I ever have a girlfriend again, I'll start an Alinea fund so I can have that as a goal.

Route 66 (The place that burned down last month) guys trying to take over this location that lasted 4 months? I might be concerned about leasing my place to some guys who have opened 3 different times in 3 years! Twice at that same place. I would at least make sure my insurance is all set to go.

As a guy who dabbled in this business, I can sense when a place is about to go under. This place was never above water.

The lack of sauce was the least of the issues here and people dont need "A SAUCE MENU" listing 30 different sauces. Just make some damn good sauce. Wanna make a spicy one as a second one OK.

As GD stated, the location has suffered some turnover. I know the rent is really hefty ($10G a month) and without a good cubs run, you just dont come close to covering costs at this place.

2500 SF x $35= $7300 net, so it probably is close to $10G.

Great location, great outdoor area, good luck to the next sucker who comes in.

Why try reopen another BBQ place when Old Crow and Sheffield's in the neighborhood? That building needs to be a cafe/restaurant to be viable, no?

Cafe might make it, as they could get some breakfast biz to help make rent, but then the liquor license doesnt mean much

Salt and Pepper does almost NO dinner. didnt even know they were open past 3 PM.

If Big Ed's BBQ could afford to move down there from the north burbs, they'd do well, because man oh man that is some serious, serious barbecue.

God damn, bigfan's thoughts on this thread are atrocious. I forgot what kind of special idiot he was.

Not that SBR is good. I had to endure it once out by Elk Grove Village with friends who raved about it.

This thread reminds me, however, that I still have to get to the new Honey 1 location, and the new Uncle John's location in Homewood. Every time I think about trying Uncle John's, it's Sunday and they are closed.

It's actually pretty good. But weird to get it in a gas station strip mall though.

I've got to make a return trip to Honey 1. I'm curious about it now that their grills have been broken in and seasoned.

Anyone ever have City BBQ in Berwyn? They are building one in Orland not far from me.

If we had a Classic Threads folder this one would be in it.

Admittedly, the message I was attempting to convey in this thread was garbled, at best, and bewildering, at worst.

In future endeavors, I will ensure that my communications are clear, concise, and comprehensive.

Please accept my sincerest apologies.

I still don't understand this...why not just ask for extra sauce?

I guess that the extra 50 cents was a deal breaker

So I was passing through the affluent neighborhood of Elk Grove Village today and saw the Sweet Baby Rays on Oakton. I was tempted to stop in for lunch but no time. Anyone else been at this location? Are you a BIGFAN of it?

Another chain BBQ place opened up: Mission BBQ in Downers Grove, over by the Portillo's.

My dad prefers less smoke on his fake BBQ (e.g. Patio), so we may try it some night.

You mean the place in Waukegan? It has always struck me as average at best.

Maybe it went downhill after they moved. When I went, it was in North Chicago and it was amazing.

I tried it in the original location. Never was impressed with it. It certainly has an enthusiastic following, though.

Are you possibly talking about Hillary's on Lewis? It wasn't bad...wasn't great.

Conveniently located in a bowling alley parking lot, though...
