Shhhhh. The crock pot industry doesnt want anyone to notice this.

All of my grandmothers, aunts and Frank swear that there is no work involved in cooking a meal in a crock pot.

Cleaning a crock pot = worse than turning on the grill and grilling a chicken and some potatoes after work.

I can't even have a thread about putting soup in an oven without fucking Frank Coztansa ruining it.

i will agree with him on one point though, yeah you're doing the same amount of work just at a different time...but it is nice to already have it done when you come home from work

a lot of times if i have 5-10 minutes before i leave for work i'll do some prep work/chopping/cutting etc. so when i get home i just have to cook the shit

I recommend the Whirlpool Gold Series.

Got it on sale at Lowes when we redid the kitchen in April.

It comes in Black, white and the Stainless Steel version which we have.

And we go low and slow with our crock pots. Less mess and clean up later.

spany and Hank were the ones that ruined it. My initial post was in the spirit of the thread.

Btw, Francis did say that they wrapped the potatoes in foil before putting them in the pot.

So, can one of you Suzie Homemamker's let me know what would actually be hardened to the pot in that scenario?

The whole damn thread is out of order!!!  CH just wanted to know some good casseroles and now it's become a referendum on appliances.

I think the real lesson here is that the crock pot liners are the way to go. I never trusted them because I thought it would make my food taste like plastic. It seems I was all turned around on the subject.

This is easily in the running for the most CSFMB-ish thread in the history of the CSFMB.

For sure then, they will be washing the dishes while our son mows the lawn. I'll be in a supervisory role at that point.

Just buy like 20 crockpots and store them in your garage. Seeing as how you'll probably only use it once a year, that gives you at least 20 years of non-washing crockpot happiness.

Simple.

I use my crockpot at least once a week, all year long. I better start saving now.

You also could buy the magic one that Frank has that never has to be scrubbed.

Not a casserole per se, but it works as we are now talking crock pots and cleaning. I am a bigfan of red beans and rice.

In crock pot on low, 1 bag red beans, green bell pepper, onion, red pepper flakes, ham hock, celery and bay leaf. All vegetables 1/2 - 1 cup as you like. If cooking for family, double this for the leftovers. Easy...

but the clean up is a pain. This is the only thing we cook that is difficult to clean. But it is a serious task to get the stains out and of course you have to use something that won't scratch the surface.

There was my attempt to get the food discussion going. :)

Ya know...if you scoop out the leftover goodness instead of letting it harden at room temperature overnight, they practically clean themselves with 150 degree water. Quit being lazy. :P

I'm with doug. Clean the thing before everything hardens up and you get no problems.
