These are popping up all over Chicagoland as Michiganders, not unlike Mexicans, have brought their local delicacies with them as they flee their war-ravaged homeland in search of a better life.

So for the uninitiated, Detroit-style pizza is cooked in a square pan with a thick, spongy, chewy crust that gets nice and crispy on the bottom and sides. MOTHER OF GOD IS THIS GREASY. I love the crispy corners and how substantial the crust is, but they did not have to grease the pan up THIS much, did they?

Still, I'd recommend it for a change of pace. $16 gets you two square pans of pizza, which is two big meals. That's not bad. I think it's good to sample other people's versions of pizza.

These "middle pizza" joints have to be price conscious.
I'm not going to order a 15 dollar (?) Jet if for a few dollars more,
I can get a real pizza from the local great carry out by me.

The French dressing on the pizza/salad bar is top notch, if you like that sort of thing.

Gotta tell my little ceasars story again.

Got a new boss at work years ago. We all went to lunch with the guy and riding back up to the office in the elevator, he starts talking about listening on the radio to Dahl at a family superbowl party.

Dahl's brother in law amazed that they can make 2 pizzas for $12 or whatever it was. every time the commercial came on, Dahl bro in law would amaze at it, so dahl broke it down for him and figured it cost them about $4 for to make the pizza, so it isnt so amazing!!! of course dahl made it into much more of a production and made his brotherinlaw sound like an idiot.

We get to our floor, everyone gets off the elevator, most everyone turns the corner and I grab our new boss and tell him that our accountant ('TYE"), who was in the elevator with us is Dahls bro in law!

Not true. They serve beer. My first legal beer was at Pizza Hut in Palos, an MGD bottle.

When I was at NIU, we found a loophole where you were allowed to purchase beer with HuskieBucks (NIU's dining dollars). This was not supposed to be allowed at the local places in town where you could spend your huskie bucks. At the end of the semester we would always splurge with the leftover huskie bucks, and get like 10 buckets of beer for the table.

You should have spent your HuskieBucks on more HuskieBucks.

Order stuffed crust when you go out with your girlfriend.

Mine was at Halftime on North Ave. in West Chicago. Don't remember what flavor it was, being that it was sixteen and a half years ago.

Had this again to eat during Kings-Hawks and I'll tell you what, this pizza is so much better when you don't order pepperoni. Evidently, the grease from the pepperoni leaked over the sides and collected at the bottom of the pan, which made the crust so unpleasantly sodden. With sausage, this does not happen, and the crust remains grease-free beneath and allows you to focus on its breadly goodness. Now I can more strongly recommend it.

Did you get an 8-corner? You have to get an 8-corner. I won't vouch for their non-Detroit pizza, which I'm sure is cheap and bad and Caesaresque.
