I'm a fan of the red leaf lettuce. Did these lettuces not exist when I was a kid, or were they prohibitively expensive? I remember iceberg and that was it. And iceberg has no flavor. These other lettuces don't really cost that much more, and now you are doing something with your tastebuds at least.

All my grandmother ever bought was iceberg lettuce. I think that's just the lettuce ol' timers were used to having.

Why do we need all these fancy lettuces for?

yea the red lettuce is awesome... i dont know if it tastes any different but i like colored salads im not racist

i usually go with romaine and red lettuce if theyre both available. mix them together, add a bunch of other shit, and 4 days later there is still a few bowls left and im so sick of salad i cant finish it. day 5 is too long, its pretty gross by then.

i actually do the same as far as mixing romaine and red...but no way could that last 4-5 days.
romaine, yeah...red leaf lettuce goes bad really quick though

my fridge usually keeps the salad half frozen...

Cut the nub off the end of the head of lettuce, and stick it in water. It will stay crisp.



Keep it towards the front of the fridge. Things tend to freeze when they are in the back.
