completely agree about the beef, and i don't understand why that is. everything else i've had is good...i like getting a dog, cheeseburger, large fry and slice of chocolate cake if it's serious grease time.

Five guys has been open here for about 3 years and I have no desire to go. There are plenty of local bars around that serve great burgers.

Tad Queasy or Chris in Joliet might know if still open but a great giant burger in old suburban setting tavern is Nick's? in Lemont.

I used to live in Lemont. From what I've heard, Nick's is not what it used to be.

I ate there about 20 years ago and it was awesome. I think it's changed owners about 2 times since then.

I will say, though, the 12 oz. burgers at Williamson's in New Lenox on half-price Tuesdays ($4.50 for burger and fries, though some toppings are extra) is the best bang-for-buck burger I've had in awhile, although you may have to wait 20-30 minutes to be seated. During the rest of the week, even at regular price, a pretty good deal for a sit-down joint.

I'm eating one of these right now and thus far I've failed to find any redeeming qualities with it.

Well my take on Smash Burger is that it is a lot better than 5 guys. I enjoyed it and the fries with the oil and stuff on them was a nice change on fries and I love fries.

The McDonalds club burger is okay nothing special but better than most McDonalds.
