There has been an intentional destruction of the great Chicagofest by each succeeding mayor to the point that it is now the eunuch called Taste of Chicago you see today

Yup. My parents let my sister go in 1981 on the condition that she brought a 9 year old me and returned me safely. Little did I know that it would only be downhill from there in every way.

That was when they ridiculed poor Skafish. I was there wearing some kind of black concert t-shirt and a little pair of shorts with my hair looking somewhere between Johnnie Ramone and Tenille.

Not Bobby. His brother, Jim who opened the show.

No honest recollection, but then again it is also probable that I was wearing a tank top, short piped adidas-ish sorts and cowboy boots [edit: from Zayre], but I don't remember that either. In any case, this guy's Christmas Album may be the high point of the Chicago Art/Punk scene. If there ever was one.

Was going to try the ribs at The Smoke Daddy, but they wanted 14 tickets for "1/4" slab of ribs. That would be $40 for a full slab.

His new solo track is pretty meandering and boring, like the worst of Wilco (The Album). But d'awwww it's so cute that his son plays drums for him. I don't care what JORR and -- who's that other Wilco hater here? rpb? spanky? -- think, still a terrific band.

Eddie Van Halen is a singular entity, the top of his class, a God among men. No one can ever be the "Eddie Van Halen of...." anything. Eddie Van Halen is the Eddie Van Halen of Eddie Van Halen.

This concert ended up being cancelled! I guess XRT was right to feature Bob Marley the night before a giant Tweedy show they were promoting.

This is why I don't go. Way too expensive for shitty portions. My wife went with her sisters yesterday and 20 dollars basically got her some corn on the cob and chocolate strawberries.

You'd rather gas up the company car and go to Naperville, huh?
