I got to scratch one off my bucket list on Friday.
I always wanted to visit Rip's Tavern in Ladd, Illinois for fried chicken.
It's a big, clean dining room with a small bar.
The bar actually has Hamm's on draft and a very large selection of much better beers.
The chicken was as good as I had heard.
It was the best I have ever had.
Now get this!
Two Hamm's drafts, a pitcher of Hamm's draft, an order of a very good basket of fried mushrooms and two 1/4 white meat chicken dinners with fries - a grand total of $22.
Maybe not worth all those miles, but if you are ever headed to ISU or Peoria, you should check it out.
Attention, Jimmy Pasta, do not go there. I know I shouldn't have. Please don't tell my cardiologist.

Based on what people have told me about Hamm's, they could have had Miller and Natural Lite on tap and you're statement would have been accurate.

But glad to hear the chicken was as good as advertised.

I hear that some of the finest people in the world come from that area.

Is Ladd, IL anywhere near Sublette?

I generally struggle with fried chicken. This is weird because there aren't many unhealthy foods I struggle with: gyros, Chinese takeout, Italian beef, you name it. But most fried chicken, can't handle it. EXCEPT this place in West Palm Beach called Bay-Bay's, which has simply amazing chicken and waffles, best fried chicken I've ever had, only kind I'll eat.

About 10-15 minutes south of there.

Fried chicken is really good when it's good, but chances are it's going to wind up being greasy, soggy, and just not very good. Too risky.

I find I have much better luck with broasted chicken. Fewer places around here even bother trying to do it, so the one's that do have their shit together it seems like.

They probably don't like room temperature pizza that's been left out all night either.

This is just the defeated talk of a man that's given up on fried chicken. There is no substitute for excellent fried chicken. You've just given up.

If some chick gave you a bad blow job, I bet you wouldn't give up on that.
