I went for the first time with my girlfriend over the weekend. Enjoyed the food, a little pricey. I've never done the "Brazilian steakhouse" thing so it was an interesting experience. Anyone else ever been?

Nope. I would love to go, though. Guess this is where the usual suspects chime in to say this place sucks, because it's a chain.

I've been there. It was fine.

It was just too much damn meat (quotable). That's an every couple years experience.

The salad bar is fantastic, though - understanding, they want you to go nuts so you consume less meat product. It's still good.

Been there several times...always enjoy it. As for the cost, it's considerably cheaper at lunchtime and the food choices are pretty much the same.

Been 2-3 times at the Woodfield location. I enjoyed the meal very much. Like Dr. Ken said the soup and salad bar are great.

This.

My sons love it, and I love to turn them loose there at lunchtime.

I typically like the whole Brazilian steakshouse thing. That's because I'm a bit of a glutton and this is like a buffet that you dont need to leave your table for.

It is about a $20 difference at lunch, isn't it?

I think dinner is $50-ish, iirc lunch was like $32.

Signing up with the company Hoffy and I used to work for can nab you 5-15% off your bill at Fogo.

Yep. Also, kids 7-12 eat for 1/2 price and under 7 are free.

I took about 25 guys from work to the Fogo in Rosemont attached to the Big 10 building...it's good but Chamma Gaucho in Downers Grove at Butterfield & I355 is much better & the service is outstanding. Mrs. Scorehead & I dine here frequently.

The one in River North has about as good a wine list as you'll find anywhere. Maybe a place like Alinea or Everest has a better one, but that would be about it.

Been wondering about this one. My girlfriend's been there and loved it, Fogo de Chao was a spur of the moment, we happened to be in the city, kinda thing.

Agreed. Everything I heard I expected to be a bit more blown away but I was pleasantly surprised about the sides. Overall enjoyed the food a lot.

Agreed on the every couple years thing. It was a nice anniversary thing but with the drinks it was a little pricey. And I don't really go into the city very often anyway. As for the salad bar, I understand that quite well and, as such, never actually made it over there. I did notice a guy who had a huge salad piled up on his plate, don't understand that mentality.

I agree. My office used to be right over there too although I never ate there for lunch. Fogo is good. When I was trying almost feebly to competitively body build ( I had to justify my PED use) a place like this was right in my wheelhouse. Not great meat but really good. Damn meat sweats. Now I have much less of an appetite. I could get minimal value out of it. I would be sick as hell. I would love to go in for the salad bar only at a reasonable rate though. If you have a 17 year old son in sports though, take him there. It will be the best thing ever. Biggest complaint about all of them and I have been to a number of different ones is the meat is damn salty, I know they want you to fill up on water and booze but still.

I've been to Fogo de Chao in Minneapolis and Texas de Brazil in Chicago...both were very similar experiences...got sucked into the spectacular spread on the salad bar, which prevented me from eating as much of the meat as I liked. The picanha was by far my favorite cut at both places. I'd highly recommend that anyone who goes have at least one caipirinha...absolutely delicious drink!

That this thread made it this far without mention of the little buns is delusional. Great salad bar, decent meat, good novelty experience, but the buns rule the day.
