i always thought hardee's had quality milkshakes as they use real ice cream and all that, and when i got my first one at the freshly-repoened elk grove location i even had a chris-tucker-in-the-fifth-element-gay dude make my shake. the special ingredient is FABULOUS.

the culvers ones are good but i tend to only fuck with them when they give out the buy one get one free coupons.... and idk if this counts as a fast food shake, the brandy's at oakton and wolf (and i presume their 3-4 other locations of which i've only been to one roughly twice) has awesome milkshakes which go great with a gyro, but there you are right back into that $10 range.... but that $10 range is worth it even moreso than the hardees shit.

the brandy's milkshakes have giant milkshake straws so when you do something like oreo or butterfinger you're not going to get too messed up by the chunks of whatever in your milkshake. that stands out compared to the rest of the places, where it's just a flavor (and hopefully egg nog soon)

I can confirm that Steak N Shake is officially eggnog-compliant. The only problem is they dust the nutmeg exclusively over the whipped cream, so you rarely get a balance of nutmeg and nog. You want the nutmeg, you have to go right in on the whipped cream, and with whipped cream generally being kind of flavorless, it's like licking a tree.
