I'm not sure if these are franchise locations, but the Lou Malniti's i've had out in the burbs is dogshit. I don't understand the love at all.

I didn't know regular people ate deep dish pizza. I thought it was only for tourists, people who say "chi-town," and intra-city mayoral wagers.

P.S. Dave "Kap" "The Kapman" "Kaparooni" "chaspopKap" Kaplan is the worst with the "Chi-Town," "Bean Town" "Motor CIty," "Pittsburgh...town" stuff. It would make Chet blush.

Once every five years or so I crave a Giordano's stuffed.

I absolutely love Giordano's. Had it three times this weekend.

Beggars' crust was better, too - less soggy and had the crispy cornmeal crumblys.

I think Beggars is OK, but not even close to Lou's!

Terrible claim. Wont even get into the many reasons why.

Not sure. Passed out after each slice and then woke up and kept going.

I prefer Giordano's. I think they use the same recipe as the legendary Nancy's on Golf Road in Niles.

Not really a fan of deep dish at all, but Georgio's is the best I've had.

Lou Malnati's is the most overrated pizza in Chicago.

My wife brought me back a slice from a get together at my Son-In_laws parent's house. My new Son-In-Law orders a pepperoni stuffed "Lou's". EVERYBODY knows you get sausage.

I'll have deep-dish around my birthday or at some particularly food-comforting moment in the dog days of winter (which aren't that far apart). It's great as a special thing, but you can't eat it often.

Beggar's and Aurelio's only seem to exist below 1200S. As someone who grew up on the Rosati's and Malnati's of the north, going to one of those must feel like being in Shelbyville.

CH, I find myself agreeing with your thoughts way too often. You should be worried. I'll probably start hating small midwestern cities and doing crossword puzzles for fun.

Like I said, maybe the suburban locations are just franchises, and just not as good as Lou's in Chicago. But i've had it from 3 places out this way, and it's just not very good. The deep dish is okay, and the thin crust I've tried was awful.

I'm not even a huge fan of Giordano's, but I would take that over the Lou Malnati's I've tried every time.

You have to try them side-by-side.

I have. Some Beggar's locations are better than others. The one on Cicero in Park Forest is probably the best.

Agree with FF on this one. Lou's is amazing, not the kind of thing you can eat all the time, but I'd say me and the wife get it once every couple months at least. Plus, in a pinch you can stop in and buy a frozen one that has 4 slices for $12 that's hard to tell the difference from the fresh pies. $12 for dinner for 2 is a solid deal for non fast food.

And anyone who says Giordanos is better than Lou's is a genius.

Haven't tried Beggars, but doubt its close to Lous.

Who the hell gets thin crust at Lou's? I didn't even know they sold thin crust. That's like going into McDonald's and asking for a hot dog.

 Right. God forbid someone orders a pizza that doesn't put them in a coma after one slice. Thin crust > deep dish. And that goes for anywhere.

The one by Barrington and Schaumburg road is great.

I don't think I have ever had their thin crust so I'll take your word on that.

Lous grows their own tomatoes, they used crushed tomatoes only, not sauce, Nobody else comes close.

Most, like Giordanos, beggars, have sauce with sugar. It's not bad, just not lous.

One issue Lous has is that sometimes they get so busy, the rush the pizzas out and they need more time. I usually order WELL DONE these days...solves that issue

Here's a pro tip for ya.....if you want thin crust go to one of the 8000 places that does it better than Lou Malnatis.

If you want deep dish go to Lous since its the best in the city.

Not gonna argue what is better, thin or thick...to me that's like asking what is better, steak or cupcakes. Two totally different foods, both great, no point in trying to pick a favorite. Last night we had thin crust pizza from Munchies, it was very good. Last week we had Lou's, it was also very good. Some times we feel like thin and sometimes we feel like getting deep dish.

That has been my main issue with them. Their pizza is always VERY undercooked. I'm talking like they took it out of the oven 10 minutes too early. If I ever order from them again, I will definitely request well done.

You guys enjoy the overrated garbage that is Lou Malnati's. Makes things easier for the rest of us to get pies while you all clog things up there.
