My dad and stepmom are coming to visit, so it will just be four of us. Think I'm doing pulled pork and a slider bar.

my sister is hosting a birthday/super bowl party

It sucks because I am obligated to go but she won't put any effort into it. I'm sure she will just order pizza...and pull the move where she asks my dad to pick it up knowing my dad will graciously pay for it. I told her she had to have wings, and not wings from the pizza place and that she should make some chili and nachos. She sat there with a blank stare and I know she's going to do shit. I would bet she doesn't even put out chips and French onion dip.

The whole family is coming over.

Anitpasta with meats, cheeses & olives, Grilled Sausage & Peppers, Italian Beef with Giardinera, Pizzas, Spaghetti & Meatballs and my Aunt's home made Cannoli & Dolce plate.

I think I may call in sick Monday...

when invited these days I insist on bringing the food to my sisters. She is famous for the UNDER ORDER! med pizza with mushrooms and 6 wings, that should be good for 4 people!

In my opinion, having a party and not having enough food or cocktails is a absolute embarassment. Always have enough. Now you may run out of something that everybody loves, can't help that, but there should be other options.

My sister has a unique ability to be impervious to criticism.

I will probably make chili and bring it over with chips. She will think its great and have no idea it is a criticism of her inability to host properly

It's true. It would not be a stretch if she neither made nor paid for a single item at her party.

This doesn't even take into account her dipshit husband who became a hockey fan when he moved to Chicago in his 20s who will be flipping to the hockey channel during commercials and halftime. I already warned my sister about that shit but, like I said, she is impervious to criticism.

I'll have to make the chili because I like it and want to enjoy the super bowl experience.

You've just described 95% of Blackhawks fans.

You think that when people move to a city after college they become fans of things in that city that they never were a fan of before?
NO WAY

The 2013 NHL Champions license plate frame is a dead giveaway.

She may be a bad hostess, but telling her what food to serve or what they can watch during commercials sounds like a poor guest. In the scheme of things, bringing some food and/or beer is not only appreciated but a small price to pay to make your time (and others) more enjoyable. Suck it up.

If you are going to throw a party then do it right.

Otherwise, have the party at noon on Sunday and let people go enjoy the Super Bowl somewhere else.

Exactly.

A birthday party for a child and a Super Bowl party combined is a very stupid idea.

Don't go.

Or, alternately, take me along. The situation won't improve, but the inappropriate entertainment potential will skyrocket.

I doubt the kid will have psychological problems from everyone ignoring him at his birthday party.
