One less spot in Chicago to get German food prepared by an authentic Mexican:

Its time had come. German immigrants no longer moving to an area where they go to eat heavy German food for dinner 3 times a week. Give them credit for hanging on this long. Still, always sad to see classics go away.

Had my wedding rehearsal party there...loved the place.

This sucks and the irony of it closing as an Olive Garden opens across the street should not be lost on anyone.

Great bar and cool, atmospheric dining rooms. Best Goulash soup I have ever had and I've had it everywhere. It could survive under a group with a little more vision. It should be the destination point for Cubs fans taking the El 81 times per year. It should have an Oktoberfest with its outdoor patio and mall parking lot across the street.

I imagine they got offered a boatload of cash for the property and counting interest is a lot more fun than standing over a stove 10 hours per day.

Pour a little out for Zum Deutschen Eck, The Golden Ox and now Mirabell. Hopefully Laschett's isn't going anywhere

Who is buying that place for big money? Now, if you could do a drive thru, thats big money...and yes the Olive Garden being BUILT frm the ground up, across the street is its own sad view of the world.

Live 3 blocks away and drive by it at least twice per day yet I've never been. Same goes for the Olive Garden.

What's going on with the White Castle over there?

It sucks that Mirabell goes out of business while an Olive Garden exists across the street. Olive Garden is fucking disgusting terrible food. Just awful. I hate to see the old classics close...& I hate to see people eating at crappy places like OG.

That article sets it up like Olive Garden hurt Mirabell's business. Trust me, Mirabell and that Olive Garden do not share many customers.

They tore down all of it except its steel girder shell and now they are rebuilding it to look more like a real castle. Cutting edge architecture shit going on in my hood.

Roman columns in front of the Little Ceasar's can't be too far behind.

Which Little Ceasar's? You have to be more specific. For some reason there are two of them within 4 blocks of each other on Addison.

I have no idea how Little Caesars can survive outside of college towns.

It looks like they are building the nicest white castle ever...problem is, they still serve the same food.

Pizza pizza....when you can feed your family for $10, they are gonna keep em busy. Introduced my crew to Pockets yesterday for lunch

Juan - enjoyed it, asked where it was.
Pedro - thought it was one of the best things he ever ate
Chuy- fuck this, I want some meat
Omar- Tacos are better!

The Cartel that Eats then Rates Gringo Food.

White Castle should have just bought that shitty castle overlooking the Kennedy that the DJ built but never lived in.

the cycle will be complete when all authentic german restaurants go out of business while the faux authentic place in Rosemont thrives

This would be something I'd like to go to if they have an estate sale for this property....lots of cool steins, paintings, taps, etc.

This is the truth. I drive by the on on McLean in Elgin, and the place is packed. I actually don't think it's just Hispanics. It is more a socioeconomic thing judging by the variety of races in the location overlayed with rusted out cars in the parking lot.

Guessing that since they have a full liquor license, someone is buying it and converting it to something more palatable to the Benetton and Structure crowd who Blue line it in from the burbs.
