WGN is reporting that the Au Chavel ventilation hood will need to be totally replaced. Whether the new hood will stand up to the previous performance has yet to be told. Also that whole romaine thing.

I had a pretty good-ass burger at Tap House Grill in Wheeling recently.

Monk's Pub.

Grabbed burgers with the wife a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday after making the mistake of trying to go to the Christmas market.

Bad bad bad. Both asked for medium and they were well-done charred. Waitress said they got a new cook. Whatever the reason they were really bad.

Monk's is a great place for a drink. Have never been impressed by the food.

Yeah, not cheap. I had 2 beers and a burger and my bill was $28 before tip. Worth it though I thought.

That place is pretty damn good. One of the best things about the 35th Street location is that it's never crowded (although I've never been there on a game day) and I can park in the lot behind it and eat in my car.

I didn't even know they had a 35th street location. If I ever go to a Sox game again that might have to be the call.

I actually thought 35th Street was their only location. I didn't realize it was a local chain until I read your article.

I've been to that place a bunch of times and it never occurred to me that it was a Red Hot Ranch.

I was there today. When I got there, there was a squad car parked out front, which generally isn't noteworthy. I get in there, order my food, and the check out girl says "that will be $10.50." I walk over to pay her and she asks "you're with the Department, right?" When I assured her that I wasn't with "the Department," she told me I owed $12.50 and then gave me $2.50 in change for my $20 bill.

When someone asks you if you’re with the department, you say YES!
