Just hitting IL now. If it holds the wind could be pretty fun.

It looks like the arc of the derecho (where the strongest straight line winds are) is headed right for me.

We have lost power, and it there are some wires down in our backyard. I can't tell if it's electric wires, or if they are from an old dish that was left on the roof. No arcing though.

Cheryl needs to get back to the US and out of Spain. There's important weather to report on.

People driving about 10 MPH under the speed limit on 72 because of all the standing water and limited visibility. I got cut off by people three times on my 25 minutes commute in who couldn't handle it. Yeah it's called a cushion between me and the guy in front of me. You're aren't going to get to work any faster....

It was both. A huge tree limb went down and took out the power lines from the pole to my house hookup on the roof, as well as completely torpedoing my neighbor's shed. The Dish (left from previous owner) is in tact, but the cables are all down.

ComEd showed up about 4am and made sure there were no live wires down. At that point I got the generator out and going for the sump pump and fridge. Looks like some minor burns and damage to the roof. Thankfully it appears to be all minor and outside of the hassle of no power for a bit, everything else will be fine. I would guess at least 60mph straight line winds came thru the Orland area last night.
