Last 6 months or so we go on a leash at night because of the skunks in the neighborhood. I have a feeling if I let her out now she'd stand in the rain for 5 minutes looking pitiful and not sure what to do.

Well.. understandable. Living in the country we just turn the dogs out in backyard. On rare occasion one will get skunked but it's not very often. Usually only once they start having young ones that they end up wandering up by house. I was stunned she wandered off in this storm though.. she's more likely to do the stare at the rain and refuse to leave the porch.

Good luck Frank. Days like this I'm glad to live on a hill.

If I had to go outside in the pouring rain while somebody encouragingly cheered "go potty", I'd pee like a race horse and get back inside. She'll stand there like a goof blinking and smelling the air or rain like she has no idea what the drill is.

The sound of the last 5 minutes is as bad as just before Katrina made landfall in New Orleans.

And nothing that sounded off starting at 2am that day was as startling as this(until the wind started twisting the steel skeleton of the high rise I was staying in)

I'm just shocked my roof held up...or that I still get a satellite signal.

The rain hurts their ears. Somehow the rain falling amplifies everything. Our vet once described it to me as "trying to pee while somebody is yelling in your face with a bullhorn" which makes sense that they don't like to go very quickly in the rain. If possible, take her out before the rain or when there is a lull and its not a downpour. Holding an umbrella over the dog might help. It certainly has with our little girl.

I finally got to bed about 12:30. Got a bit of water in the basement, but nothing too bad and nothing got ruined except for my pride.

Should be a drain in the center, unclog the drain tile.

Bury a bucket with holes in it in the bottom of the well and hook a sump pump to it.

Was driving back from Peoria up 40 tonight. Felt like I was getting shoved the entire way. Pretty good mileage so I can't complain too much. Saying the line hits here around 11ish the last I heard.. Looking foreward to it.

I don't know if it hit the entire area. I think more south than north of the city.

2 tornado warnings and two thunderstorm warnings and watches all night. I-80 got shot down from dust storms this evening so I guess the rain is needed can't say I've ever experienced brown out conditions while driving before today.
