Yep, I wake up early on Saturdays and Sundays because my brain doesn't believe in the weekend. I'll check out the board and very little changes from what I've seen early Saturday until early Monday.

Most of us that used to populate the Drinky Board all weekend have found other ways to waste time while drunk...

The best long-term strategy for the board is probably just to recreate it as a subreddit.

You're spending too much time working IN your message board, you're not working ON your message board.
Promotions, new products, threats to meet up at an oasis...these are the things that grow us and lift us up.

Now Nas, I want to ask you what are you doing to make this place better?
I sent my recon spies in here and they were treated like mults!

This was attempted about 6 years ago to attract new posters. We got none.

We lose too many old posters doing that. What would we do without The Hawk and Cheap Charlie?

When did the board move to reddit?

When did the board move to reddit?

It didn't move, but a subreddit was created.

But did any discussion actually take place there?

What if you just linked to the Jelly Roll v. Kim K thread across various platforms and watched the growth happen organically?

I think at the height of meatballs 2 and inconcatenation culture (roughly mid-to-late 2015 to sometime since Musk bought twitter) places like this and dimeforscale (which has almost completely died, but was active during those halcyon days) and knittingparadise and ar15.com and yinyoga and bluelight and shroomery and gopitbull etc & other similar free speech internet watering holes served as a safe harbor for people to post without fear that one misstep and they'd be getting an email from HR about someone on the internet complaining about their views on zika or fracking or gay interspecies marriage or whatever.

As Ike's noted a few times, things have loosened up on twitter/X and even reddit folks now only passive aggressively down-vote any sort of personality expressed in a comment vs rallying a virtual tar-and-feathering crew against any non-lame-AF posts.

tl;dr this place is no longer as necessary as it once was. but keep it going cuz it looks like Trump about to get re-elected and when he does there's a good shot the virulent anti-free speech thing will return screaming for vengeance.

Is Clawmaster a male nurse?

Yes, that's the only way he's able to self-treat the muscle strains he experiences after patting himself on the back in every post.

He's talked about working in a hospital and having a largely female staff, so I just assumed he's some kind of nurse with supervisory authority in one unit or another.

Working in a field traditionally reserved for and dominated by women would explain much of his amusingly atavistic board persona, which reeks of castration anxiety and strikes me as a classic example of overcompensation.

I’ve always assumed Clawmaster is a neurosurgeon. Classic God complex.

sundays in football season are very active. Saturdays are decent as well. I'll look from my phone but I rarely post from it and I don't get on the computer at home to view.

I wake up early on weekends if I haven't been drinking but I enjoy the silence of the moment

I'd like more people to post but what can you do? There's enough sports talk here to join for a little while just about every day but you can get that elsewhere. Personally, the hyper niche boards I go to about teams are either more personally argumentative than here or insufferable with the minutiae of the sport. I still think this is a great place for good sports talk coupled with fun.

We don't talk about sports talk radio very much.

I don't like most of the politics discussion here but its a great feature that it is quarantined.

I'm just perplexed that message boards are considered an inferior form of social media. I'd think the narcissistic nature of people today would love long form for their brilliant thoughts

The activity on a football Sunday is usually confined to about three or four threads. Every other thread tends to get frozen in place. Also, I think you're flat wrong about Saturdays. I don't know how many Saturdays I have made a post in the early morning, checked back in during the late afternoon, and discovered that only three or four threads jumped ahead of the thread in which I posted.

I don't post a lot, so I'm part of the problem here. I just think it's hard to deny that weekends are slow.

My fan club is growing but seems to consist of odd men with strange political fetishes.

I do enjoy tapping the glass at the zoo from time to time to rile up the animals, find the responses to be rather Pavlovian and predictable, throw some odd thing that none of them would know about out there from time to time for enjoyment.

The Bears section is the only one that is really of interest.
