I'm calling BS on that.

I bet Darkside is a motor mouth when it comes to telescopes, apocalypse prepping, poetry, knives, the poetry of telescoping knives, etc. He just needs a the tiniest hint of daylight to get started.

We finished a call and got sent out to a call about 40 minutes away. He's riding in my truck. So he says "hey so you like answering questions, and are mind of a science guy right? I got a weird one for you."

I stand for the separation of church and HVAC, and the reason that I stand for that is the same reason that I believe the great Willis Carrier did. It is not there to protect religion from the grasp of HVAC repairmen but to protect HVAC repairmen from the grasp of religious fanaticism. I may be an atheist, but that does not mean I do not go to church. I do go to church. The church I go to is every call from a desperate client needing cool relief on a stifling hot day or warm air on a frigid night. My church is this very chapel of climate control that we sit in together, and I do not need God to tell me what are my moral absolutes. I need my heart, my brain, and this church.

“So Mr. Darkside, what do you think about the upcoming draft?”

“The fuck? What the fuck did you just ask me kid? The only draft that matters is the one in Mr. Johnson’s house. Balancing is all fucked up; AC unit is struggling to push out 250 CFM. We got an old man going into summer with inadequate temperature control and you want to talk about a fucking game? What the fuck is wrong with you, you stupid son of a bitch?”

Antioch, I must say though, that I do appreciate your attempts to make me sound like the asshole for not wishing to discuss religion with a new hire while I am in a position of authority where I determine whether or not to initiate him into the union.

You’re welcome.

I think you can at least tease it out without exercising that authority. A guy that age isn’t asking that type of question because he cares about what you think. He wants to say what he thinks.

Idk, I’m not intentionally being an ass but people so rarely show you who they are - particularly young people. I’ll typically air on the side of giving them room to say what they want.

No. He wants to convert Darkside. Darkside is right to shut it down.

My Sundays mornings are spent at Costco is my response but Darkside may be a Sam's Club guy.

Yeah maybe. This is a unique case. I got 3 weeks to get this kid ready for prime time and this level of training typically takes 20 weeks.

I got an Audi A4 this week for a rental and there are too damn many gears, paddles, handles and buttons. I need a Deni$ tutor session.

The interiors are quite busy. And everything on an Audi is backwards.

They are nice, The big problem with Audi now (and most luxury brands) is they created too many models that all look the same. There is no differentiation anymore.

Always liked something about the A7.. Well the S7 more so but it doesn't fit my life at all and the cost of ownership would not be something I feel like dealing with at the moment.

A friend of mine asks if I want to go to Lake Geneva to see live music. He omits the part about a $13 (yes, I know you're sorry I'm poor) cover to see a Grateful Dead Tribute. Now I passed on going to see a similar group in Palatine last night as I'm not a huge fan. Yet here I am and they're wondering why I'm not loving it?

Great. Got 300 miles on the car yesterday. For a pretty pedestrian model Audi it actually was enjoyable. Hope to get to PB tomorrow or Wednesday.

I used to live three blocks from the primary athletics venue for the Special Olympics. For the better part of the last 12-15 years it's always irritated the hell out of me that they have it so early and the weather usually blows. They really set the hell up out of the stadium and park, hundreds of kids are brought in and it always looks like March. Waiting a week or two can't possibly hurt.

we are now in that interregnum between winter and summer where the office building overcompensates for one day changes in the weather by blasting the heat or air conditioning and it gets everyone sick

the tamale guy at the farmer's market sells out all his tamales for the day in pre order. The stand ends up being just a pick up site. Why not make more for that day to sell if you knew you already had that cash in your pocket?

Had a colonoscopy this morning. As much as I heard about how bad the prep laxative stuff was, I still somehow wasn't prepared. What a shit show!
