I saw that, hope it doesn't get to bad down that way tonight. We are supposed to get between 2-6 inches of snow, I hope that is not the case.

There is a confirmed tornado on the ground near North Utica, moving to the east. It appears it's going to hit Ottawa and will be moving into Will County. Everybody needs to be weather aware tonite.

There are some strong super cells crossing the MS River. If you get enough shear in there you'll get some tornadoes spinning up.

There is currently a La Nina so you can expect outbreaks as the larger tornado outbreaks are almost always linked to one.

Initial reports on Twitter are saying there was a large wedge tornado in Ottawa, and there was some pretty significant damage.

The Ottawa storm has produced One Long track tornado, or multiple tornadoes. Very dangerous storm. There is a tornado on the ground confirmed just to the north of Morris, moving toward Minooka and Joliet. This is not going to be a good night.

Just from a quick cursory glance, that's probably EF-3.

Quote:
...THE TORNADO WARNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN KENDALL AND NORTHERN GRUNDY
COUNTIES HAS EXPIRED...
The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado.

Therefore the tornado warning has been allowed to expire. However large hail and damaging winds are still possible with this thunderstorm.

A tornado watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CST for northeastern Illinois. Remember, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning still remains in effect for
northeastern Grundy and southeastern Kendall counties.

They should put that hail in a plexiglass container on the Wrigley Field scoreboard.

One dead in Ottawa.

This was in Bradford, about 40 minutes north of here.

I was over in Lasalle on the back end of that storm. Down north of Bradford on the front end.. Not pleasant at all.. Another cell just blew through Princeton (west of Lasalle) and was heading in that direction.. Its pleasant...

Absolute downpour of rain and got some pea-size hail in Orland.

Heavy damage in the tiny town of Naplatte. At least F2, possibly F3 damage.

Yet another wave heading for Northern Grundy and Will. I'm out of state for work, but Mrs. MM said this has been worse than she can remember in the 12 years we've been here. Already replaced the roof and siding a year-and-a-half ago after the June 2015 hailstorm :(

You'll be okay. Hail really only causes cosmetic damage.

We are getting hammered with hail. I'd say some of it is nickel-sized (on the extreme high end).

I read on the national news today that Chicago has not had snow for like 2 mo straight. Trump should take credit.

One drainage ditch at a corner of the intersection outside my place has nearly crested road-level with water.

Lots of H2O getting dropped on us tonight, be sure to check your basements and pumps.

My dumb old dog wandered off and I had to go find her. When she finally did she gave me a what? Look. More proof that she is deaf as a post as she looked stunned that I basically tripped over her before she realized I was there.

Last 6 months or so we go on a leash at night because of the skunks in the neighborhood. I have a feeling if I let her out now she'd stand in the rain for 5 minutes looking pitiful and not sure what to do.
