Maybe should be in douchebag section. Never understood why the airlines overbook like this. I would be pissed off if I was randomly chosen. I wouldn't have to be dragged off like this guy but I would never fly that airline again if it happened.

This is why I will not wear a sport coat to fly. If I can be treated like this, there is no reason to wear anything other than a tshirt and jeans.

I don't see how this guy isn't going to get a fat settlement from United and the Louisville Police Department unless there's more to the story.

You'll notice they didn't drag off a guy who was well-dressed. They pulled off a goof in pajamas.

What kind of incentive is it that they give you 800 dollars to use on another united flight. Make it straight cash homie and they may get more takers.

Definitely dbotw worthy.

It's strange overbooking is even legal given how most plane tickets are nonrefundable. I know it's partially an issue of connecting flights but it's still dumb.

We had a person we knee get kicked off the same flight because of overbooking. We had to sit in Denver for 2 hours waiting for the next flight to land.

The funny thing is that they always kick off the person with the lowest fare paid.

I was just going to ask that question. How do they decide who to kick off?

He's a doctor and wouldn't get off the plane because he had a full schedule of patients to see.

The compensation is based off the cost of your fare. If you are a single person on a cheap fare you are at risk even if you bought the first ticket on the whole plane.

The person that got bumped with me got 1000 dollars plus a rebook two hours later.

He's just cheap then. Good for him!

#FakeNews. He was wearing a regular long sleeve shirt and what looked like green pants. Maybe they were scrubs, but as noted the guy was a doctor and might have been coming from or going straight to work.

At any rate, knocking an old Asian man unconscious by slamming his head on an armrest is BAD OPTICS

Yeah. That video is pretty horrible. That guy is going to get paid like JORR said. Money fixes everything.

Gotta love flying.

Now I took evil pleasure in listening to that guy scream. He sounded like someone getting attacked by a monster in a horror film.

Happened to fly United Wednesday night and noticed that they were overbooked. A woman came to the customer service desk with her husband and 2-3 kids in tow and was told that the flight was overbooked so she'd have to catch another flight. I believe our flight was the last one out so she probably had to wait til morning.

Yea fuck that. Now the family has to find a hotel that sure as hell is not cheap by the airport. Why would they over book the last flight of the night.......

That hotel would be paid for by the airline unless they were so late to the gate that their seats were given away.

They asked for 4 volunteers to leave the plane, so 4 United employees could get on?

I fly quite a bit, mostly AA. I only hear them ask for volunteers for an overbooking situation about 1 out of 10 times. In that particular story, it sounded like UAL employees needed to get on that flight. Flying sucks.

It does seem odd the way airlines run. How many other industries are allowed to sell what they do not have available right out in the open without repercussions?

Planes get caught in the wrong cities or crews run out of flying time (need rest). They probably needed a crew so a flight could get off later on. The logistics of the business are incredibly tricky especially with weather related cancellations.

They pay people compensation for giving up their seat(s).

Give that flight crew a rental car and tell them to drive. It's only 5 hours from Chicago to Louisville.

Then you sweeten the pot until someone volunteers. You don't drag someone out of their seat.
