Do you even use a knife when you eat chicken fingers and popcorn shrimp?

By the way, I think the real question is, "In which hand do you hold your fork?" If you're right-handed, you pretty much have to cut with your right. So then it becomes a matter of dropping the knife and picking up the fork or keeping the knife in your right and eating with your left.

I'm right handed and cut with my left, but I do it on purpose b/c I read somewhere that it keeps your mind sharp (pun).

Well, check out the big brain on Ambidextrous Doug!

I am also ambidextrous.

Really screwed me up to play 16" softball.

One piece at a time, unless it's something I'm bringing to work...then I cut it up when I put it in the container the night before.

As for utensils, if one is required, knife is always in the left hand, fork in right. If no knife is needed, fork in left hand.

I'm left handed.

For rectangular tables, do you always try to hit the "left-handed corner" where you won't be elbowing the person next to you?

I make a B-line for 1 of those 2 spots.

Yes. Thought to be honest, my size usually leads to people giving me wide enough berth that the elbow thing isn't a problem anyways.

My wife is a lefty. We try to avoid sitting in a manner in which she is directly to my right. Usually not a problem unles we are out with another couple.

I will cut half of a steak, eat it, and then cut the rest.

I can't imagine another lefty not securing the lefty throne spots (four, if you can seat the ends of the table, as well). Both my sons are also lefties, so we can be side-by-side.

I keep the fork in the left at all times, knife with right hand. I have trained myself to drink with either or both hands.

Also a suffering ambidexter, I find it difficult to type or play the piano, where the right hand is usually dominant, although it could just be the terrible ideas, not terrible typing.

Same here. Me neither, as I am not cutting my pecan-crusted halibut with a crosscut saw.

It seems like we have a disproportionate number of southpaws here.

Both of my parents are/were left-handed, but my brother and I are right-handed. My wife and her mother are/were lefties, but my kids are righties.

I have thought for some time that 50/50 left/right was probably the true norm. But it took a long time for social acceptance for us lefties to kick in. Both my parents and grandparents were forced to be righties. Religious superstition was a big reason. .02

Damn, another lefty. The site I just read says that 10% of Americans are lefty.

My parents were born in the 40's in post-Hitler West Germany, and they were forced to write with their right hands, or they would get the ruler across the hand from the nuns. They do/did everything else lefty. My wife is lefty, but she swings a golf club and a bat righty. Furious Styles and my buddy Paul are lefties who golf righty, although Paul putts lefty.

One cut at a time for steak and things like pancakes. I do chop up my salads into small pieces all at once and distribute the dressing more evenly before eating it.

My wife is a lefty and she always takes the seat to my right so we bang elbows all meal. It's like we have amnesia and never remember until it's too late.

I cut with my right hand and then fork swap because I'm not a European. But I'll do it the Euro way if I'm having dinner with someone from Europe so they think I'm on their level.

Me too. I'll also eschew deodorant in order to smell more like my European guest.

I have never watched anybody to see if they were using the correct fork, or using a proper cutting and eating technique.
