My daughter is 15. Still not allowed on any social media platform. She has yet to transform into a complete self absorbed dope. So I think our choice was a good one so far. She has had several friends get themselves into big trouble using a multitude of platforms.

great choice. i sell content filtering to schools with some pretty advanced technology. children are garbage on social media 90% of the time. we've literally found private groups dedicated to bullying 1 child. its easy to say that your kids would never do such a thing but chances are they are. the longer i can keep my children off of it the better. i'm friends on fb with a good number of my friends who i went to hs with. i'm not actual "friends" with them any longer and usually they provide enough evidence why on facebook. i stay friends with them to help my children process that these people most of the time will not be life long friends. Don't alter the rest of your life for people you'll despise 10 years from now.

My daughter is 14 and asks about it. Pretty sure she’d be fine but my wife has a basic hell nonpolicy when it comes to any social media. I’m pretty much in agreement with her.

Snapchat is the same thing as Instagram.

If I only know one thing about girls.. you don't tell them to stay off Snapchat.

Hold them off for as long as you want but at some point they are going to get on it and if you ever want to speak to them again, don't take Snapchat away from them.

I used to be a fraud investigator and perform surveillance and other investigations on people. Seeing how we used social media to learn information on people has caused me to be off it going on 10 years now. No Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. And the younger the people were, the easier it was to find information about them. Thus, my kids will not be on that shit. As others have said, Snapchat is used to send erotic photos.

It's like Chat Roulette. If you want your kid to see a grown man's penis, have them get on Chat Roulette.

Yea, Snapchat gets the bad rap because of how it was created but i think every social media site has the disappearing or timed pictures now.


You just have to stalk them like crazy if you let them on at all.
