Post subject:  Kidney Stones

I know there are some here with experience in this area. I have been relatively healthy my entire life until
maybe a month ago when my lower back started hurting and now it is my left side below my rib cage. I have
been having a pretty stressful summer and out of my regular routine so not sure if that was playing any role
but now that I am back in the office for the foreseeable future I was going to make a doctor apt to rule out
anything else that could be more serious. Based on Dr. Interwebs my symptoms could point to possible
kidney stones. The pain is kind of a dull constant pain, it was described many ways online. I don't have
any of the other symptoms they talk about in the articles I read. Anyone else who has been this that can
explain the symptoms and pains? I just plan on drinking a lot of water this week and see how things feel
on Friday before picking up the phone.

Everybody I know that has kidney stones has one thing in common, they all don't drink nearly enough water.

What's more annoying, having kidney stones or having to read this writing style. 4 out of 5 doctors recommend occasional paragraph usage to prevent kidney stones.

Far from how I would describe the feeling of passing kidney stones. I passed several that were 4mm - 6mm, and the pain was more like 'please let me die right at this moment.'

Anyway, just drink a ton of liquids. Any liquids. Water is best, but any fluids passing through your kidneys can help remove the deposits from your kidney linings and break them up to help them pass better. I assume very small, broken kidney stones could be a mild pain or even go unnoticed.

Yikes, someone is a little sensitive today. :eye:

Is a low percentage a good score or a bad one? 4% doesn't sound too horrible.

I had a "dull constant pain" in my right side for 6 months before they took my kidney out.

See a doctor.

I don't know anything about that.
Please explain it to me.
Is it painful?
For you or for him?
I guess you have quite the history of sack munching, don't you?

Yep, I've passed several. I can't imagine how bad it would be if it took a month to pass- all mine were six hours or so. Walking made them move and made the pain better.

My experience with pain located like that for that long has been a pinched nerve- a doctor can check your urine for microscopic blood caused by the stone, should answer your question.

Never had Kidney stones but a few weeks ago, developed a pinch nerve in my neck.
Only hurt when I turned a certain way. I have been through Hell and back but that pinched nerve was the greatest pain I ever felt except for a few instances of the gout about 18 years ago.

As someone who has had both, I think it's a toss up between kidney stones and gout for most painful.
