One of the nicest memories of being a dad was tossing my kids in a shopping cart on a Saturday morning and walking the aisles of Toys R Us.

I'm shocked they lasted this long.

If you have any gift cards, be sure to use them before any official filing. Typically stores will no longer honor them after BK, as they become claims against the estate. That happened to me with Crown Books about 20 years ago...they told me my $25 gift certificate was no good. I returned later for the book I wanted, and took a five-finger discount with a clear conscience.

I needed a last minute gift so I went to one and it was a ghost town. It was a nice trip down memory lane to walk past the video game slips of paper.

Babies R Us still seems to do good business though.

It's really expensive. I don't know why anybody shops there. The only times we went there were when they had promotions where you could bring in an old stroller or chair, and get a discount on a new one. We bought a shitty umbrella stroller from a garage sale for $1, and took it to Babies R Us, where we bought a new one at a big discount.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a few to dump.

They have a better selection of stuff and the price isn't much different from Target.

It was nice to go through a few times to get a crash course on what kids need. I didn't notice it as being that expensive but most of our purchases seem to be from Kohl's or Amazon now.

When my oldest was still en route, we hit Babies R Us for the baby shower registry. I remember the prices being much higher than Target. I may have gone there twice afterwards. That Lansing store closed not long thereafter

Amazon is tough for some things. I still like to touch and feel some things. I bought what I thought was a Lion King onesie from there earlier this year and found out it was basically Whitty Hutton. Then there is the wait even if you have Prime.

The Lansing store was still there when my early kids arrived. I spent a lot of time there. You waste a lot of money before you learn a few things about having kids.

You spend much less on the second kid than you do on the first. It helps when they are the same gender. Chus Jr. II wore all of the stuff that Chus Jr. I grew out of.

My 2nd daughter was a spring baby and much bigger than my first daughter so all of her clothes were useless. I bought a lot of toys they would play with for about a week and then they would get stored in the basement. I'm not buying toys again.

As was mentioned earlier, Kohl's is a great place to buy clothes for kids. When my wife sees crap marked down, she buys it. We have tubs of clothes that are too big for my kids. They will wear them eventually. She has bought shoes for $2. Meanwhile, my sister in law was spending $25 on shoes that the kid would outgrow in weeks.

I vividly remember my dad taking us there for the summer gym shoes meant to dogged out. Sitting on the store floor trying on shoe at a time(they were attached to each other). He was too cheap to spring for the Chuck Taylors or their Sears equivalent.

I think it's an Aldi's now. Nas will know it.
