Other than the Xfinity cable package that includes various news and sports options, I have a digital subscription to the Tribune. I like it very much. I enjoy Kass, Stantis, Haugh, Biggs, etc.

That's about it.

Northwest Herald. I want to get my local news for McHenry County. National news is easily found at the drop of hat, but local stuff is harder. A local newspaper presents a lot of facts without a lot of bullshit to go with it.

I had the Economist when I was in college and received a discounted rate. As for WaPo, their paywall is laughably easy to get around. Just go into private browsing and it has no clue you have gone over your article limit. That works for Tribune and NYT as well.

WSJ is seemingly the only paper that has effectively constructed a paywall which requires real work to get around.
