calling for his resignation is a low risk move for Dems, they can continue to rightfully hammer Moore and a Dem gov in MN gets to nominate any up and rising star there to fill the seat until they have a special election in a deep blue state.

i never understood the move to politics for franken. he was a great satirist, his books were hilarious. "why not me?" was his best work, and then he goes and tries to be legit.

this is what happens. franken was doing drugs in the 70's on SNL, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if all those guys weren't "harassing" women nonstop.

as recently as last month Lorne Michaels was defending Weinstein so yeah Franken has been in a toxic environment

When I saw the script, Franken had written a moment when his character comes at me for a ‘kiss’. I suspected what he was after, but I figured I could turn my head at the last minute, or put my hand over his mouth, to get more laughs from the crowd.

On the day of the show Franken and I were alone backstage going over our lines one last time. He said to me, “We need to rehearse the kiss.” I laughed and ignored him. Then he said it again. I said something like, ‘Relax Al, this isn’t SNL…we don’t need to rehearse the kiss.’

He continued to insist, and I was beginning to get uncomfortable.

He repeated that actors really need to rehearse everything and that we must practice the kiss. I said ‘OK’ so he would stop badgering me. We did the line leading up to the kiss and then he came at me, put his hand on the back of my head, mashed his lips against mine and aggressively stuck his tongue in my mouth.

I immediately pushed him away with both of my hands against his chest and told him if he ever did that to me again I wouldn’t be so nice about it the next time.

I don't know if he was championing him. He said, "It's a New York thing", which is pretty ambiguous. If he meant that I'm not gonna go after him because he's a fellow New York Jew, that's reprehensible. But if he meant that Harvey Weinstein is a big deal in New York but making fun of him isn't really going to play very well in Idaho and Kansas since he's more of a behind-the-scenes guy, that may be reasonable. But then SNL spent time with Roy Moore who isn't exactly a household name outside the circles of political junkies.
