Family Guy changed Meg’s voice, and that worked out well. It’s reasonable to think this can too.

I realize Family Guy isn’t 100% fiction, but it’s the best comparison I can think of.

But the first Meg was way hotter than the second one IMHO.

Right.

Same amount of syllables.

Stupid change for change sake.

I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I ever recognize "and with your spirit".

"And also with you" 4 Life!

If you're against change, do keep in mind it was changed to "and with your spirit" because, again, people are dopes. It was never that way previously, and they've gone back to the 'original', if you like.

Went to my first mass in a long time for my grandfather's funeral. Everything was different from what I remember. Responses, order of the mass, terrible.

And there was a dead Mexican in the middle of the aisle. Weird touch.

God has some good thoughts but He isn't always the most articulate being. He just needed a little editorial processing from the church's most scholarly group.

I remembered this....vaguely...and so went and looked it up. Apparently, the original Greek in Matthew employed a word never used before (Matthew invented it), and his interpreters later assumed that he was trying to coin a term for a word in Aramaic (and possibly Hebrew) that meant . . . many things. Then it got translated in Latin and then (for us) English, where it sounds really weird and the original meanings are obscured. Thanks, Interpreter's Bible! It's good to have these as e-copies.

The service is supposed to be mostly comprised as a direct lift or close approximation of verses from the Bible.

If there's no real basis to do so, why did MANY decide to change it up? Probably for the same reasons MANY churches think it's real f---ing neato to reinvent the wheel every week by re-writing the order of service (or what decent people who don't think they can outdo God via their creative writing skills refer to as The Liturgy) -- because MANY people are about as sharp as a sack of wet mice.

As to the 'daily' thing tommy wrote about while I was typing out this idiocy, I'll just say that I've never honestly thought much it, and that my (probably under-informed) understanding was that it was meant as an all-encompasing request to indicate our faith that He'll provide for our needs - not just the stuff we 'know' we need (e.g., food, water, shelter, internet) but also the stuff we have no idea we need (like, say, in four hours from now when Yugo hits you and you need a Band-Aid for each of the two cuts you suffered as a result).

I've been listening to some old Art Bell on youtube lately and his interviews with Malachi Martin are entertaining radio. Among many other things, Martin holds that every mass performed under post Vatican II guidelines are not true masses (I assume Seacrest is of this opinion as well, not to flame but I thought it was his belief). Check it out if you want to hear intrigue dealing with everything from exorcism to murder.

My mom still bitches about that change. Semi corresponds with her leaving the church. More correlation than causation however.

I complain, too, but it is really my agnosticism and all of the bad priests that drove me away. I'd actually go if they had the Latin Mass...that sounds cool.

There are Latin Masses performed at several locations throughout the area

You are flaming alright.

I have never discussed theology with you. And I don't agree with the statement. So, dolphin's Friday story time needs a new topic.

It's a more accurate translation of the words from Latin to English.

Just like in baseball, we don't need to get it perfectly right.

The wrong way worked just fine for MANY years.
