Gaze into the crystal ball and what do you see?

Mine is gold prices will climb to at least $1,800/oz. by year-end, thanks to the egregious U.S. tax cut legislation favoring global corporations and the top 1%. The dollar has been getting hammered. In the last twelve months the dollar index is down 13%! It's not good when a former Treasury Secretary, Lew, comes out today and says the U.S. debt situation is a "ticking time bomb" because of the tax cuts, leaving the nation broke. If you exclude the effects from the dollar's depreciation last year, the stock market rise was not that remarkable in 2017, with the S&P rising about 5%. The gains have nothing to do with any Trump personality cult effect, and everything to do with currency depreciation. The government and the Fed know that the stock market bubble can only continue by depreciating the currency, and that's what's going on. But it's an unsustainable course, because interest rates will rise. The government cannot continue to spend trillions it doesn't have, nor can the Fed do another round of QE to artificially depress rates as they have done, not without disastrous consequences in terms of market confidence.

Gold prices are at a 3 month high today. Oil, too, is up. Maybe Ogie was right about oil after all, but not for the reasons he gave.
