Anyone buy one recently and have suggestions? The one I own came with the house and have no idea how old it is. The last couple of days it has been shaking violently during the spin cycle moving close to a foot. Per google search it appears that it may be something involving the suspension or bearings. I called for it to get looked at but debating how much it was worth paying to get fixed versus buying a new one.

Q: What's the difference between your mom and a washing machine?

A: When I dump a load in the washing machine, it doesn't follow me around for a full week.

This is similar to the one we bought a few years ago but I think we paid a couple hundred less. https://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-Electron ... /206109367

It works fine but we aren't too dirty of a family anymore. My kids are all over 8 and their activities are both clean and indoor. The no agitators are kind of weird and I miss knobs. Nothing works as well as it used to but I hate change for the most part anyway.

I hate, hate, hate front loaders.

Arrange your clothes in the machine better.

My clothes were arranged perfectly fine.

Possible idea...Google it. Sister was low on cash and changed seals on hers, later the motor and a third time something I don't remember. Each time she just followed the Google instructions, ordered her own parts and did it herself. I was shocked she did it, and each time amazed how well her handiwork paid off.

I went to beni hanna Friday, it was amazing, as always.

As usual, Seacrest is right.

There were exactly two polo shirts in my laundry. Nothing else.

Thank God. I was worried you wouldn't find a way to sound condescending in this thread.

It’s almost certainly not worth calling in a repair man. I always check YouTube first to see if it’s something I can fix. If not, washers are pretty cheap these days. Menards is running the 11% rebate this week if your looking for a less expensive choice, ABT for something a bit higher end. Also to satisfy Seacrest, newer washers actually adjust the load if it’s off-kilter.

No soaking, inability to add clothes after started, long cycle times and the seal gets moldy.

I agree with the inability to add after starting. That sucks.

The "mold" thing is solved in about 10 seconds every other wash or so once you figure it out. I haven't really noticed longer cycle times, but our front loader has a larger capacity. And our old top-loader never told us a cycle time like our front loader does, so maybe I just never paid attention.

Soaking? Pre-treat.

I can't.

I have zero experience washing only two shirts with any type of machine.

1. Leave the door open when not in use (dries out quickly)
2. Pop it out and quickly wipe it off every couple loads instead of waiting for "what the hell is that smell in the laundry room" - which we've done too many times.

Not doing #2.

I am not sure the seal on ours pops off...but even if it did wouldn't it be bad for the seal to be popping it off and on every few loads?

I am with spaulding. I hate our front loading washer. Would gladly go back to the older style.

Leaving the door open between loads is the best remedy, but that can always be an issue for front loaders if they are located in a problematic area.

I hate ours too. I have to wash it with gloves and bleach every so often. That's with leaving the door open. It's just damp constantly there. The previous owners bought it but I think it's a fairly expensive one too so it isn't just because it was cheap. No chance I'm ever buying a front loader but it's good enough to keep now.

I have rebuilt my GE top loader washer a couple of times now, the YouTube videos from appliancepartspros.com etc. are super helpful- they eliminate the steps you did not recognize that can be catastrophic to disassembly. Last Christmas, my oldest son overloaded our machine (way more than two polos), which did in the main bearing. It was probably worn, but he pushed it over the top. The repair ended up including a new outer wash tub, bearing assembly and drive belt. It would have been less than a couple of hours, but I reassembled the main seal upside-down, and had to tear it all apart and flip the seal. Just over $125 bucks and it has run perfectly since.

My next washer will be a Speed Queen top loader. They sell through local stores plus Abt and Amazon, and offer a washer without all the computer controls, the number one source of all modern laundry issues.
