Some people are raging fucking assholes and can't or don't shut the fuck up ever and other people don't want to deal with it. Can't say I blame them. We'd be better off without that type.

Clearly.

The personal attacks are nothing new. There were mults calling a board admin a burrito, shots at family members and occupations, threats to rape others family members, and a lot more before the last year or two. I don’t care if people move on from the board, just don’t pretend it’s because the atmosphere has changed. It hasn’t all that much.

Say when was lipids last post?

I’m not one of the “core” guys here, but I’ve observed “friendly banter” moving from criticism on ideas/thoughts/opinions to personal attacks on character. That will drive MANY away.

Some are oversensitive babies that get their feelings hurt. We are better off without that type.

Disagree. Those guys create hilarious drama.

It's like a bar. Sometimes your group isn't your group anymore or s few drop off so all of a sudden it's not "your place" anymore.

That's life baby

I would argue that when clever posters leave due to personal attacks, it diminishes the enjoyment of the board.

You can disagree without attacking personal character—a good debate is enlightening, educational, and even funny. Doesn’t necessarily mean the other guy sucks as a human being.

Which clever posters left due to personal attacks though? That’s not why leash is taking a break. Darko mentioned Lipid, I can’t imagine anyone here personally attacking him.

that's true. some of the heavy posters here are actually morons, not assholes. and they probably drive people off. some people are immune to personal attacks and idiotic and bad faith arguments, and that's cool, but other people likely feel the need to wash the stupid off them when certain people post.

I’m not going to name guys, and frankly sometimes I forget someone left until they come back. To your point, I honestly don’t know why someone left, but it seems there have been some venomous posts recently.

Personally, I think the tenor change with Trump’s election and a shift from sports to politics on the board.

You may be on to something.

I liked the politics threads when they were a novelty. Now that they’re ubiquitous and it’s the same people saying the same shit it gets very tiring quickly.

The rest of the threads are fine though, imo.
