there's some documentary that en passant covers West Virginia's locus in the early stages of the opiate/opioid/pill factory thing; maybe The Wild & Wonderful Whites of WV. iirc, there's a scene where one of the WV locals in the movie-film shakes a bottle of OC's and calls it "the West Virginia mating call". Searching for the Cross-Eyed Jesus is another entertaining look at the traditions of Appalachia and the backwaters of the deep south; with an awesome soundtrack. I think the Handsome Family couple makes cameos playing some of their appropriate-to-the-subject-matter tunes. Jim White's the main creative force behind it tho. |

Word. WV is fucking gorgeous - take I-68 from Morgantown to the MD border; beautiful. So what if the natives are a little...off.
