Was just in both past two weekends. Neither downtowns are Chicago or even Milwaukee. But there are pockets of fun in each.

And let's be honest, both cities have identical suburbs that 90% of the board lives in. Few posters would change their lifestyle living in either metro.

:lol: My wife was born and raised there. She seems to have turned out ok but may be the exception. Stepdaughter thought Wisconsin was
the worst place ever and promptly moved to Nebraska after high school. Another thing I'll never understand about her. I have only been
in the state one time and it was pretty much what I expected, although I was only there for half a day. I have taught myself not to bad mouth
the place since my in-laws all think it is the bees knees.

Omaha has an even more extreme hot/cold temp range than Chicago, so it's got that going for it...

Decatur is worse than Rock Island or Davenport, mostly because of the stench in the air from the factories.

A lot of good places to eat in Lincoln, NE as well.

And it's hard to find a better atmosphere for college football.

I drive through Omaha once or thrice a year. I’d advise avoiding it during the college World Series. It’s a zoo.

The area around the West Side Market in Cleveland is pretty cool and on the way back up.

We played a soccer game in Omaha and saw none of the city. It was the famous Clarkson College vs Clarke College grudge match. Button 48 moment: I went through 3 state capitols in the same day on that trip. I started in the morning at UW Madison at the future wife's dorm, got on the team van in Dubuque, went through Des Moines, and ended up in Lincoln to play Nebraska Wesleyan the next day.

I’m sure the regional golf courses are lovely. In months not January. It’s an industrial/port town. Lot of poverty. I guess that’s not the part people are talking about.

Pretty much the entire US. Pockets of nice for the top 20% and Shithole for eveybody else.
