Anybody get hit hard by storms last night? Any flooding? I was determined to grill some food so I set up shop in my garage. We
got about an inch and a half of rain in 45 minutes and then it was pretty light after that. I had some water come in the garage but
that is pretty typical and it wasn't all that bad overall.

they are not 100 year rains. they are 1% chance (in a year) rainfall events, using 100 year rainfall data for Northeast Illinois. This is typically 7.58 inches (of rain) in 24 hours.

So, if you get 4" of rain in 6 hours...that may equate to a "175 year" equivalent or 0.57% event.

DISCUSSION...

Isolated to scattered non-severe thunderstorms are expected this
morning. A second round of thunderstorms will form over eastern

However, there will also be a threat for tornados late this
afternoon, mainly across portions of north central Illinois. Very
heavy rain will also accompany these storms, and this may result
in areas of flash flooding across northern Illinois into this

Hazardous swim conditions are expected at the Lake County Illinois
