No, those are really good, too. You can't go wrong with a favorite Beatles song unless it's "Yellow Submarine."

Well, that's just my opinion. I also think Picasso is a shitty artist wanna dump on me for that too?

Now you've done it

Well I guess Picasso up to about 1920 or so was some decent work.

I'll take "Hey Jude" (which isn't a perfect song, the coda is a little indulgent) over "You Can't Always Get What You Want" if we're gonna play this game. I think that's a better 1:1 comparison if we're doing Long Orchestral Songs. And the riff on "You Really Got Me" is one of the all-time greats, I mean, how many '60s rock songs are better than that one?

If you’re comparing the best Stones song with the 30th best Beatles song you have already lost the Stones vs Beatles debate before it started.

"Gimme Shelter" and "Bitch," then "Sympathy for the Devil," but your point stands.

It's the lyrics that make that song. Well, maybe not, but those are some fine damn lyrics.

You know something? I'm not that impressed by the Who, other than Who's Next and some scattered songs. The two big rock operas aren't that good, they're just big.

I always thought Tommy was stupid and overwrought.

The early stuff is great though. Real rock and roll.

Yeah, that's most of what I like, too. And I like "Who Are You" way way more than I should for something that late-era. It's the bridge, I think.

it's one thing to say you're not into something, or you dislike something, in music. but a whole other thing to say it sucks. to say it sucks undermines the musical value. to shitpop studio saturated garbage like what you hear on Disney radio...i'd say, it sucks. maybe it's fun to listen to...but it has no value at all. it's just catchy because it's manufactured that way.

i've never been into led zeppelin. i have some of their songs, but i've never liked plant's voice, and i just could never really get into them. i would never, however, say that they "suck", no matter how much a ledhead was getting on my nerves. first of all, i know they don't suck. but more importantly, they do have some great songs. i can only listen to them when i'm in the mood though.

i agree about "tommy"...it's a little much. not the poster, but the rock opera.

Kinda where I've always been with the Stones, so I get that. But I've been a Zeppelin dork since the days of Get The Led Out every night on the Loop.

The Loop definitely brainwashed me on Zeppelin. I still celebrate Zeptember every year.

Listening to the Loop in its current enfeebled state, it's hard to imagine that they would play a set of like "Since I've Been Loving You," "The Rover," and a live "No Quarter" at 6 in the evening or whenever, but they would, and it was pretty cool.

This was me.

Hey, that's a good idea, at least until you get to Tunnel of Love and almost anything thereafter.

I don't do Zeptember but I try to play through as many Zappa albums as I can between his deathday (21st) and birthday (4th). Of course, that's also Christmas music time, so I can put on "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm" and "I Promise Not To Come In Your Mouth" in the same day, always ideal.

Yeah, to the extent it works at all, the proto-New Wave Who works better without rawk-gawd Daltrey, which is to say solo Townshend, I guess. I do like "You Better You Bet" and "Let My Love Open the Door," which are basically the same song.

I think that the Who could have been one of the very best, but they were so inconsistent, some of their experiments just didn't pay off, and they needed a better producer. Still one of my favorite bands, but they just have so many unlistenable songs that aren't even good as simple noise. Daltry sucks, too. I do appreciate the fact that they have a bunch of different sounds, though.

I'll be honest. I don't really understand it.

It can't really stand alone--you need a sort of assist to understand the overall story--and some of the music is eighth-grade-school-band level dreadful, but I love that album. "We're Not Gonna Take It/See Me" should be one of the ten or twenty best rock songs of all time, if they knew how to record.
