Tommy is pretty awful...But I'm not a fan of much the Who did after Who's Next.

It seems like a lot of older bands had era's that were well and good, with a lot of suck and filler...

There's some good tracks at Quadrophenia and By Numbers, Boyd.

Quadrophenia could be paired down almost in half and it would be great.

Who By Numbers has Slip Kid and Squeeze Box...only two songs on there that do anything for me.

I'd say there's at least one song on all of their subsequent albums that isn't bad, but, that kind of makes my point....

Well, yeah. It was a double album. Even Physical Graffiti had a couple of throwaway tracks.

Very true....happens a lot on double albums. I love the Pumpkins, but I feel like there are parts of Mellon Collie that can go away.

The whole album and everything prior and subsequent.

That is a great question: Is there a perfect double album?

Like anything else it probably depends on who or what you like. I am not sure about perfect but a few pop up for me right away. The River, The Wall, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. I am not sure there is one that I can't find at least one problem with though.

The White Album?

And if anyone is going to say 'The Wall', here is a preemptive eat shit.

Maybe if they put a Hershey kiss in the wall Frank would love it.

I thought this thread was about Quincy Jones' anus. What does all this shitty Gen X music have to do with that?

Songs In The Key Of Life merits a mention here.

And The Wall gets way too much sneering imo

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is a terrible, terrible album. It shouldn't even be one side, let alone four.

Chicago's first album (as CTA) is awfully good.

If you're of a mind to listen to/study historical musical art, Bitches Brew is the way to go. Speaking of listening to history, I think London Calling was a double-LP.
