I'll be honest. I don't really understand it.

It can't really stand alone--you need a sort of assist to understand the overall story--and some of the music is eighth-grade-school-band level dreadful, but I love that album. "We're Not Gonna Take It/See Me" should be one of the ten or twenty best rock songs of all time, if they knew how to record.

I have no issue with some of the songs on their own. I guess I just don't really like the idea of a rock opera. Tommy does cover some common literary themes- alienation, the struggle with oneself, messianism, but to me it seems like an insane hodgepodge. Like I said, I don't get it. "Wonderwall" covers the same basic material better in three minutes than Tommy does in several hours and does it more tunefully. Townsend isn't Verdi or Wagner. "My Generation" is a far greater masterpiece than Tommy. Rock isn't opera.

I always liked Quadrophenia more than Tommy, but I listen to it as more of a concept album than a staged rock opera. The Real Me is my favorite Who song.

Quadrophenia is pretty spectacular from start to finish. Tommy? Not so much. I still love it, but I'm a fanatic.

I know reading is hard, but I never said they suck...I just think their music does.

I can’t argue with women. They twist things around, and eventually you come to the conclusion that losing is the only way to win.

Oasis isn't as bad as U2 but it's a close one.

I like U2 through Achtung Baby...then it goes off the rails for me...other than that City of Blinding Lights song...I dig that one.

What's The Story was a great album...the rest of Oasis is just meh. Blur was a better band.

Definitely Maybe is better than WTSMG

This Oasis talk reminds me of the SNL skit where Will Ferrell plays a British Parlimentary member that just goes on diatribes related to Oasis.

It's been years since I've listened to Definitely Maybe...my Oasis exposure at this point is literally whenever I hear it on the radio.

Oasis got accused of plagiarism like 3 or 4 times didn't they?

'Slide Away' by Oasis is a better song than all of those.

Be Here Now is a great album, too

I'd Morning Glory 3rd.

Although Dont Look Back in Anger is better than every song named in this thread.

The electric guitar version they did live once in a while is bad ass.
