He said a lot of shit. Richard Pryor's wife already confirmed one of the allegations.

I don't feel I know enough about Quincy Jones. The article was not as inflammatory as I imagined.

Anyone have a good TV documentary or good book(s) that discuss some aspect of this man and his life? He has 3 bodies of work that might be good. Curious if something is out there that is not being sold at his website first.

He's a lunatic.

Paul McCartney became a pretty accomplished bass player over time.

He's right about Ringo, though...

He might be. Is it old man lunacy, or was he always a little uncorked? Trying to figure that out. As best I can tell he did some pretty cool stuff with some pretty accomplished artists. I'd say he's earned the right to call it like he sees it, even if time, taste and circumstances changed the landscape around him.

Which, both cute. Never knew his daughter dated Tupac. I liked Quincy's forward in a book about Tupac shown below. While the subject relates specifically to black men, the point made fits for anyone.

“The tragedy of Tupac is that his untimely passing is representative of too many young black men in this country.”

“If we had lost Oprah Winfrey at 25, we would have lost a relatively unknown, local market TV anchorwoman. If we had lost Malcolm X at 25, we would have lost a hustler nicknamed Detroit Red,” Jones wrote. “And if I had left the world at 25, we would have lost a big-band trumpet player and aspiring composer — just a sliver of my eventual life potential.”

I still have a game worn James Baldwin jersey

Drunken Sox fans loved to ask if I were him on the one occasion I actually wore it to the Cell 20+ years ago.

Over the last 20 years or so to me he's been the unintentionally funny drunk at the ceremony honoring Ahmet Ertegun. Stern used to have a field day with that audio.

IIRC he was a producer or something with the Cosby Show. It amazes me that any of the child actors on that set came out ok.

Why? Cosby wasn't raping the kids. He was raping their nannies.

Saying the Beatles were mediocre to shit musicians isn't saying much. There are virtuoso players that couldn't write a lick.

The rest didn't sound all that controversial either. Unless, you want to create click revenue.

The stuff about Jackson is nothing new. McCartney said the worst thing he ever did was explain song/publishing ownership to him. Jackson went and bout the entire Apple cat and the rest is history.

So, it seems like it's time to put him in a home and get him on a steady diet of nutritious food and lots of Thorazine.

He's right about Ringo, though...

QJ is used to working with highly skilled musicians.

He was an arranger on Ringo's first solo album, Sentimental Journey. Only time he worked with Ringo and Paul, and Ringo didn't drum a note on it. It used various drummers and studio players.

McCartney at 21 was switching instruments. He was an excellent bassist and the best musician in the band.

I mean, he's wrong, but it's hard to begrudge him the resentment considering the caliber of professional musicians he worked with.

There was an odd mindset surrounding those kids...and his own

I'm really over this people who harp on about the Beatles being overrated like that thought is somehow edgy or novel. Often its not even grounded in any real point. WELL THEY NEVER PLAYED LIVE.

Can I still hate the Beatles because I think their music sucks?
