If Manon Rheaume is any indication, the absolute best woman goalie in the world could be about a fourth-string goalie in the NHL: hold her own at times in preseason but get lit up convincingly enough to show you this is where the road ends. But since Rheaume's stint (or stunt) in the league, we've had an expectation for goalies being at least six feet if not well above, and I don't know how many ladygoalies crack six feet and have the muscle mass to go with it. But you may have hit on something big here, because maybe that's how we can address the dearth of scoring in the NHL and be woke at the same time: require all goalies to be women. |
