I have no idea. I know the major reason why hate crime laws exist is the same reason we have terrorism laws which is the effect of both on the population.

I'm not a fan of hate crime laws either but I don't think it's punishing future actions when it's much more obvious that it is punishing more severely an attack designed to put fear in a certain group that they are being targeted.

My opinion of him is extremely low already. But you're not gonna get me to say every person who has a racist thought, which is literally everyone, is bad. I think if you were a police officer in the Chicagoland area and confronted with the stark reality of who is committing the vast majority of violent crime here you'd have some taboo thoughts also.

Wasn't he an Elmhurst cop? Most days are spent pulling over people for speeding and busting kids for shoplifting from Kohl's.

But still, if you retire from being a cop and choose to still be a proud racist, and so stupidly proud that you literally could have had problems from the state for your comments on here, then you are a bad person.

It is a certainty that Steve worked with black police officers at some point in his career. I bet he doesn't hate them. Again, I haven't seen the world through his eyes. I don't think I could actually hate all black people even if I was confronted daily with the carnage they inflict on Chicago. I don't think I'd want to be friends with someone who did. But provided they don't actually act on it, and whatever hiring some fucking yokel to paint your house is hardly some "they're keeping us down" moment, I really don't think you can say they are inherently evil.

if my child came home telling me he wants to castrate himself i would sit down and talk with him. i believe it'd be a better method than calling the cops or laughing at him.

I'd have no problem calling the cops if I needed them. However, I would hope very much so that they wouldn't wrongfully kill me, and if they did, then I would want them to face punishment for doing so.
