A few students I saw were better at conveying their thoughts and beliefs than others (those are not actors, just informed and intelligent human beings). There will always be people, especially young teenagers, who can't put a sentence together when a camera and microphone is shoved in front of their face. I'll never forget a kid in my senior class was killed in a car accident a week before graduation. It wasn't those closest to him that wanted to speak publically. They wanted to grieve privately, each in their own way. A girl who was a distant friend to this kid (I can't emphasize distant enough, more like acquaintance) somehow quickly became the leader of the whole thing, like a person running for town mayor. She created Facebook events to gather and mourn and gave the loudest and longest speeches about drunk driving (the kid was on the receiving end unfortunately). She was interviewed on the local news too. It was nice but also very weird. |
