I didn't know hate was a republican cause. Folks listen to all types of people for all kinds of reasons.

He's too busy running the NBA.

I just think it's funny. I may listen to too much Bernstein but it seems like a lot of people think athletes shouldn't be role models until they make a liberal point and suddenly everyone needs to listen to Steve Kerr and Greg Popovich.

He can't kneel for the anthem, but he can drag the flag on the ground.... oh wait. That's only for white guys.

What about dragging the flag?

National hero (except for the #metoo people). Shaun White. Dragged the flag on the ground after he won. Oddly the anthem outrage people are silent.

Why did he?

Because he's a dumbass, but regardless of the reason that is a blantant violation of flag code. Where are the calls for his head?

Yeah and he apologized. It was a mistake.

Yeah, it's not code for something. There has been a movement—perhaps unwitting, but a movement nonetheless—to "Appreciate Greatness" w/r/t LeBron for far more than his basketball, marketing and business acumen, and it has yielded some absurd results. CH has talked about this a few times when it comes from Deadspin or Dan Bernstein quoting Deadspin.

I like how when annoying celebrities like George Clooney or Matt Damon or Sean Penn speak their minds, everyone writes them off, as they should. But when Steve Kerr or Lebron James speak, we are all supposed to be in awe about how they have the pulse of the nation and they speak so poignantly.

Can't they all just shut the fuck up?

Dave Chappelle said it best about celebrity opinions.

Who gives a fuck what Ja Rule thinks at a time like this?

Actually, he got called out pretty loudly, and he was forced to apologize and state he would never disrespect the flag. Nice try, though.

We're well beyond the "I didn't vote" as a legit cover for "I'm embarrassed I voted for this dipshit". You can just stop that now.

For real. I have been actively trying to avoid every bit of Olympic coverage possible and even I still heard a lot about it.

There was a minor murmur. I missed the 3 block segments on cable TV demanding the nation boycott the Olympics over it.

Does it really happen though? The only example I can think of is a few NFL players saying "Yeah, I think you should stand for the anthem but I understand why others would kneel". People make fun of Tom Brady for presumably being a Trump voter even though he never really says anything interesting about anything.

People don't make fun of Brady for being a Trump supporter, liberals do. All you're seeing IMO is standard partisan opinions.

Is there this large contingent of moderates that like liberal athletes and dislike conservative ones? I don't really see that.

Liberals are people too.

Let me try and put it another way. If we make a list of the athletes that are applauded for sharing their political views, most if not all of them would be saying liberal things. I just think it's amusing. If Kevin Durant came out and said "2nd amendment rights are all that matter and the dead kids are just what we have to deal with" I don't think he'd be getting much media celebration outside of the ultra conservative blogs that morons read.
