Let me try and put it another way. If we make a list of the athletes that are applauded for sharing their political views, most if not all of them would be saying liberal things. If Kevin Durant came out and said "2nd amendment rights are all that matter and the dead kids are just what we have to deal with" I don't think he'd be getting much media celebration outside of the ultra conservative blogs that morons read.

Many people applauded Jake for making fun of the phony liberals lying about moving to Canada. I'm sure if I actually gave it more than 10 seconds of thought I could come up with MANY more examples. Absolutely. While I would also like Hollywood dimwits to shut up I really do not put a lot of weight into athlete's political comments.

I had just heard about this on Spiegs and Parkins when they played the tape over my lunch. They were pretty upset and surprised by it. Maybe that is because we all know who Lebron is and where he is from etc? I am guess there are many Fox viewers and religious conservatives in this country of 250 million that do not. Especially over 50. Or at least they do not care.

We would be surprised to find out how little athletes matter to people in general.

Was what he did disrespectful? Yes.
Do his actions warrant being called out? Sure. And he was.

I wrote a paper in grade school about the importance of the American Flag and what it means to me. My paper was picked by the American Legion of our town as a top 3 best paper, and I had to read my paper as a speech in the town square after being in the Memorial Day Parade.

Several hundred people there listening. Most nervous I ever was in my life.

Lebron James comment does hold merit in one regard. It is debatable whether Trump actually gives a fuck about people. This is the guy that promotes racism and bigotry. This is the guy who has stiffed many a small business owner. This is the guy that hoodwinked people with that fraudulent ass Trump University. This is the guy that has been accused of sexual assault on numerous occasions. This is the guy who has committed adultery against several of his wives including his current one. It really is debatable whether he cares about people.
