This just shows a fundamental lack of understanding regarding the mindset of these shooters. They aren't just choosing random schools nor do they concern themselves with "getting away with it". They aren't bank robbers looking for a soft target. They are mentally disturbed individuals who want to exact some form of revenge or terror on their classmates, teachers etc. Many expect to die and perhaps even hope for it. The fact that a teacher might have a gun doesn't figure into their demented thought process.

The gun lobby is truly impressive. They throw out all these meaningless ideas that won't be effective and/or won't ever happen and then just wait until people move on until the next one and then they rinse and repeat.

Mental health will do nothing. You can't lock someone up because you think they have a chance of being a school shooter. Every country in the world has people with mental health issues. Some even have them do attacks. There is a reason that it happens here with so much more severity.
Arming teachers is a joke. Why not just arm all the students? At the start of the year, here is your biology book, your school calendar, and a glock.
Turn schools into TSA-level security, because going to an airport once every few months is annoying, but having kids do it every day with long lines and arbitrary rules will stop kids with guns from shooting up a school, and instead they'll shoot up the security line.
An AR-15 isn't ACTUALLY an assault rifle. Well, that's nice.
Parents need to do better! Ok, good luck with that.
Hand guns are more dangerous so you shouldn't ban AR-15s! Well, should we ban hand guns? Of course not.
You can't ban a gun because that gun already exists and you can't take it away so it won't do any good.

That's why I think the only answer is the modest proposal of repealing the 2nd Amendment. The threat should get the gun people to be more amenable to some less severe changes.

Can the Bill Of Rights be repealed? Perhaps it could be legally. But doing so would change the entire basis of our government and the core values of the nation. My understanding is that the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights, i.e. the first ten Amendments, are not rights granted by the government, but are inalienable rights with which each individual is born. The philosophy behind it is that these basic rights are not something that can be given or taken by other men.

I saw some news video on FB about ‘the safest high school in america’. Showed them doing all the drills and all the cameras etc. my first thought was that some psycho was going to see it and think ‘challenge accepted’
