If anybody thinks that discussion of actual repeal of the Second is anything more than excuse to get people like Chas and Juice riled up please stop voting.

What? Do you not even understand your own party? There’s a pretty significant portion of the left that wants the 2A gone. There’s a reason those types constantly bring up the Australia 1996 incident and similar ones.

You think actual people not just members of the checkmark brigade think the 2nd is going anywhere? Scalia's dipshittedness that you get to have 15 AR's because Murica? Damn right it needs to go away. Nobody thinks the right to own weapons for protection hunting etc are going anywhere. Find a new straw man.

This post is a little tough to comprehend.

I think most rational people who are being honest know the 2A will never be repealed. But, that has nothing to do with my post you quoted. They still want it to be.

I know that cocaine will never be legal. I still want it to be and think it should be.

See how that works?

I don't think any rational person wants the entirety of the Second to go away. The far left? i'm sure they do. But they are as idiotic as the far right.

Here is a thought more people are shot in an average Chicago weekend than are shot in a school shooting and there are only on average 5-6 a year.

Yes, guns certainly have nothing to do with people getting shot.

MANY people whom I respect would like the 2A to be repealed in full. You’re simply wrong if you think it’s a straw man argument designed to troll reactionary people.

You're talking full repeal? Not just repealing the redefinition of "well regulated militia"? Except for a select few even my far left friends don't go to that extreme.

I’m with BMac on this. Maybe you hang with a different crowd but I’ve never heard this as a serious thought. Never.

Nobody ever says it but that's the end game for many. It's a loser politically though.

I find that nearly impossible to believe. The crowd I hang with is pretty diverse politically. Unless you only hang out with moderates and conservatives I’m tempted to say you’re lying right now.

MANY say it.

I’m not sure I’ve heard someone on this board say it but Herb Lawrence has said it multiple times on FB and Twitter. I can name others but he’s one off the top of my head who doesn’t seem “far left” and many here know.

Well even you acknowledged it’s an empty threat, so I guess nobody. But if that’s the case you keep repeating yourself for no reason on this topic.

How did I slander you?

I noticed you learned your lesson though. It’s good you’re no longer accusing people of threatening to murder people with no reason to.

Well it’s a fact that you were fantasizing about repealing it to stick it to “gun nuts”. Pro tip: facts can’t be slander. That’s what you missed from the previous example you’re trying to mock.

"Ammo first" was fantasizing too then.

It wasn't to stick it to gun nuts either. It was to put pressure on them to actually care about meaningful gun control. It's sad that I'm once again the bad guy in this for even mentioning it. You guys sure get defensive.

I don’t think you are a bad guy. I think you are a good guy who I often disagree with because you should have better opinions, like me.

I agree with the first part of your post.

I will say it’s a bit strange that you think we don’t have meaningful gun control. I can post the link again if need be.

That’s a different question. Would you agree that we do indeed have meaningful and significant gun control laws currently, but you would like more?

I'm most definitely not in the "arm all teachers" camp (but I do believe those who voluntarily wish to be armed should be allowed).

With that said, this is too good of an observation not to share:

That's what passes for a good observation in America in 2018.

It's more apt because so many on the left when decrying that the US has become fascist run to Harry Potter (or Handmaid's Tale) as their literary comparison so it's nice to see the tables turned for once there.
