So more and more dumb young people think they can become Youtube stars despite the evidence showing it is increasingly more difficult.

Benjamin spends an hour a day editing his videos and holds out hope his postings could become a career, even after he heard the odds. “I think if I keep uploading, there’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to make it a career,” he said. He recently hit 100 subscribers, up from 71 at the start of the year.

Another reason why young people should not be listened to.

Withholding judgement until I knew if he is uploading under the influence of coffee.

Asher Benjamin, a 19-year-old computer science student at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, has spent $460 on a camera and tripod for his YouTube channel, where he uploads a video every day.

He has published more than 150 daily video diaries, or vlogs, that are essentially a catalog of his life at college: brief updates about things he’s done, his plans for the day, what he’s eaten, with appearances from his roommates. “I don’t know where it’s going to end up,” he said. “It’d be cool if I could take the path others have and make it into a job, but we’ll have to see.”

That kid really has it rough. He spends an hour a day chronicling the trivial, mundane details of his life and still can't make a career out of it. All that hard work down the drain.

At least they're not later-generation Millennials. My lord, they are a pain in the ass.

i follow a few early 20 yr old kids who created fishing channels when they were in jr high. they have 800k+ subscribers and have employees who edit and film. they quit school to do it full time.

that said, they've admitted they aren't rolling in dough. they said when they got to an earning point with youtube, they'd quit school and do it full time. with the full expectation that at some point they'll probably have to return to school when this gig runs out.

FU. I'm not racist; I'm classist. Or...what's the one where you can't stand Italians?
